Why does this show thinly guise brand names?

Earlier last week, when Jayesh brought home a pizza, it was from 'Apa Johns', which is a very thinly guised knock-off off Papa Johns Pizza. Today, watching the 21st July episode, the photo storeroom that Mohan went to to cover up his meeting w/ Maruti - they showed the name as Nodak, w/ the N clearly photoshopped over what previously was K (see 3:05 below)

Why does this show feel the need to make such obvious changes to these brand names? Why not instead either retain the original names (incidentally, in-place ads could be a future trend, replacing annoying advertizing w/ brands within the shows themselves - this way, the show could have attracted advertizing from Kodak, if not Papa Johns šŸ˜†) Or, if the products involved are not in a flattering light, just change the names completely to no-name brands to avoid any controversy

LMAO!!! OMG! I thought I was the only one who noticed that "Apa Johns" thing! I'm curious too - why not use something totally original or if they had to use brand names, why go with the horrible knock offs and not the originals..? Lol! This made no sense to me either.. 🤣

In movies, there are reasons for that happening. Like in the Schwarzenegger movie Erasure, the evil company behind the murders was one called Cyrez. That name was changed from Cyrex, which was too close to Cyrix, at the time a microprocessor manufacturing company which complained, since they didn't want their brand name associated w/ villainy.

In this case, had they used Papa Johns for the pizza and the kid then fell sick, the real company would understandably have had a problem w/ that, since the serial would imply that having pizza bought from them would make kids sick. So I can understand why they'd do it. But for Nodak, there is no way Kodak's image (in a manner of speaking) would suffer if it's shown that videos can be easily edited - that's a plus, and today, a given. (Incidentally, for Apa Johns, I noticed it only after you had mentioned it, but this morning, while seeing Mohan's visit to the video store a second time, I noticed the Nodak, particularly since the N looked photoshopped over - it was a badly done job.

My solution - use completely unknown names of non existant companies that won't be confused w/ originals in the case of these pizzas, and in other cases, just go w/ the usual brand names. Incidentally, I do hope in-placement ads take over - the long breaks b/w intervals is far more irritating. Much rather watch Sakshi use the shampoo being advertized, or show Yuvi and Sandhya travelling in the car being advertized. Or if that's too cheap for them, have Aditya/Sakshi travelling in it. Maybe show Sakshi driving, to make it more appealing to women drivers.

I don't think in-placement ads should be any more embarrassing for them than the making not-so-good knock-offs of brand names. I mean seriously, "Nodak"?!?! Are they kidding me?! "Apa" Johns..? LOL! I think THAT's the more embarrassing thing to do! I would gladly take in-placement ads over long intervals. And off course, somewhat lame originals over pathetic knock-offs are appreciated too! šŸ˜†
