"Akela hoon main, is duniyaa mein, koi saathi hai na... saya, akela hoon main" Dev Anand on a bicycle, on the way to the sea side, just before he spots Waheeda Rehmaan jump off the cliff into the sea, in the movie "Baat ek raat ki" is another Rafi Dev Anand classic.

Priyaji, aap der aaye durust aaye 😊
Enjoyed reading all your posts. All the songs you've described are my favourites too!
"Dil ka bhanwar kare pukar" was discussed on another page also before you mentioned it.
The funny thing is that most songs picturized on Dev Anand and Guru Dutt have been special.

I noticed one BIG DIFFERENCE between posts made by men and women. The men are brief and just give the song lyrics. The women wax eloquent about the song situation. 😛 This thread is the ultimate proof that men are from Mars and women from Venus!

What a lovely song again.

An upset Dev Anand walks off angrily and Madhubala follows him to this place where the cute song follows. The whole style of rootna aur manana was very nicely captured with her liltating style too.

The movie was Kala Pani. Yes Madhubala was RAVISHING!

And my all time favourite song "Abhi naa jaao chodkar, ki dil abhi bhara nahi" from Hum Dono picturised on a Suave Dev Anand with a long muffler and petite and beautiful Sadhna, where she is late and wants to leave and he is reluctant to let her go. Another beautiful picturisation again.

"Abhi Abhi toh aayi ho, bahar banke chaayi ho, Hawa zara mehak toh le, nazar zara behak toh le, yeh shaam dhal toh le zaraa...." when he entreats her not to leave so early and stay on for a while longer. The lyrics and the song just makes you want to stay on that scene forever.

"Sitaaren Jhil mila uthe, charaag jhag maga uthe, bas ab na mujhko rok naa, na badke raah rok naa, ki gar mein ruk gayi abhi, toh jaa na paaongi kabhi, yehi kahoge tum sadaa, ki dil abhi nahi bharaa"

She pleads with him to let her go as the sun sets and the lights come on in the distance... and if she did not go then, she may find it difficult to go back... the words and the picturisation said a lot more than what was depicted, which made the whole scene more beautiful.

Fantastic description of a fantastic song!

i know that, I read it after I posted it. Actually, I was so excited on seeing the description of that song that I posted it before reading the whole post 😳

Nice post and nice writers too. 👏

You are right, almost all songs picturised on the two of them are so nice.

One song going on in my head is the "Aye meri topi palat ke aa, na apne funtoosh ko sata" picturised on a comical Dev Anand is again so beautiful.

"Aye dil hai mushkil jeena yahan, zara hatke, zara bachke, yeh hai Bombay meri jaan"... Who would have thought that this would be picturised on Johny Walker, as he left the police Station, running behind his "paan beedi shop owner" girlfriend Kumkum, who is exasperated with his "stealing manners" and he is trying to patao 😳 her atop a "Victoria Horse carriage".

Same is the case with the saucy and tilting "Jaane kahan mera, jigar gaya ji, abhi abhi yahin thaa, kidhar gaya jii".... Johny Walker, a journalist/ photographer is romancing an office assistant, and they go on knees on the office floor, during lunch time, on the pretext of searching for Johny Walker's khoya hua dil 😃

Oh this is one brilliantly conceived situation - full of humour and romance!

Gosh that is one of my most fav. songs....sharmila tagore with shammi kapoor...

really if there is heaven on earth it is definitely in Kashmir...

my fav. situation

tum milay dil kilay

aur jeenay kho kiya chahiyah...

i forget the movie's name but definitely there was intense chemistry in that song between Nagarjuna and Manisha Koirala in that particular song
