Geet: The Art of Getting It Right
Geet: The Art of Getting It Right
=============================
The past couple of years have witnessed a flood of new serials and channels in the market and have also bid adieus to quite a few. And while some of them have been immensely successful and popular and have run, from several years to almost a decade, others got shelved within 6 to 8 months of their introduction.
No wonder, there is always a search by the producers and channels for that successful formula which would deliver them success as well as immense popularity along with those elusive TRPs. Hence their continued search to deliver something new while depending on a safe bet formula.
And while in the past several years, such serials have come into existence which has successfully gained both, one such show that presently seems to have got that right is the relatively new serial called Geet Hui Sabse Parayi.
And it is evident that Geet's popularity is increasing by leaps and bounds and has at present emerged as the number one show on its channel.
And for this immense popularity the credit definitely goes to the writers for having not only a powerful script, but also for writing it in such a way as to totally capture the interest of the audience and
especially for writing the characters of the actors with such depth, such as the principal characters of Geet and Maan in such as way, so as to keep the audience on tenterhooks to see not only as to what happens next in the story, but more importantly as to what is happening and is going to happen between these two main characters.
Thus, Geet serial showcases the art of getting it just right, almost in every way possible. There is immense evil, but is balanced by immense good and innocence, misfortunes by fortunes, weaknes and vulnerability by immense strength.
Especially, the concept it is based on is excellent, where a sheltered protected, innocent, beautiful girl from a joint family, in a small town, who on facing an avalanche of troubles both from the world, as well as from her family and is betrayed by both, is slowly transitioning into a strong independent girl, trying to stand on her own feet, and is in the process, at first helped by and then slowly admired and supported by a handsome, angry young man of strong character and principles and how slowly love starts blossoming between them.
Dhristi and Gurmeet bring the characters of Geet and Maaan to life with passion and dedication and their characters glow with them. Dhristi, along with having such natural and amazing beauty, has always been inherently endowed with a sense of innocence and excellent comic timing, which have been earlier showcased in DMG in a small way. But here, they come to life fully, taking a life of their own and in the
event, providing immense entertainment and joy in the process. And Gurmeet has had an immense journey from the character of Sri Ram in Ramanyan to a cosmopolitan, business magnate in Geet, who is an immensely complex, angry young man, who is extremely cynical about women and he is carrying off his role with great panache and has also become a pleasure to watch, while they showed the change of his character from a totally angry young man who seems almost heartless and ruthless at first glance, only to see, as the serial progresses to see stronger and deeper depths to him, a strong principled character as well as a heart of gold underneath all that anger and muscles. :)
And another best thing is that, whether it is comic timing, showing anger or vulnerability or the change of his emotions and heart towards Geet and his present confusion regarding his feelings for her
are being excellently portrayed by him.
At the last, an article about the serial Geet and about Maan and Geet characters would be wholly incomplete without a special mention of the picturization of two different songs on this couple. :) While the picturization of "Kurbaan Hua" sizzled with angry passion, excellent choreography and costumes and emoting by the couple, the picturization of "Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho" totally sizzled in a quieter, but in no way less passionate way, but that of a sizzling, intense and suppressed emotions and of burgeoning and growing feelings and of self denial and thus making both songs and scenes, a must watch, not only for their portrayal but also for their excellent execution.
The whole team of Geet, starting from the Creative Writers to the whole team, and to the Actors themselves, deserves their well earned applause for the hard and excellent work they have put into this serial and have made it such a pleasure to watch and made such a success of it.
Kudos to them for a Job Well Done and Hope to see such good work continue in the Future!!
