Proof of Shashi's potential

I believe that along with Sreeram, Shashi has proved to be an extremely competent and versatile singer. It is a fact that Shashi just hasn't got the opportunity to showcase his real talent yet on the show. Sreeram has definitely been churning out near-perfect performances, and has been the strongest singer on the show according to all the galas. However, I think Shashi is not getting the correct song choices in the past few galas.

I would just like everyone to see these videos of his performances in saregama, where he was seen as the best singer in that season. With all honesty, the level of singing which he has displayed in saregama, is much higher than any singer in Indian Idol has shown so far, and that goes for Sreeram as well. When a man who can sing Jaane tu ya jaane na, and O meri jaan with so much passion, can sing stuff like this, he has some serious talent.

IDK why but Shashi has so much potential in him that he does not utilize properly.He doesn't sing to his fullest for one, and then his song selection is completely messed up

Hi, I am big follower if II5 ... and also the forum. I registered recently to post some of my views ...

Infact, i felt there is an unfair element in the Song Choice !! In the interview with Yashraj, he clearly mentioned that the singers have to pick from only the list given to them .. Choice is limited, rather not there. So, we cant really talk about the song selection.

This may be one reason why the best singers may not perform to their potential and other singers, though good but not the best ... give a better feel on the stage.

You also need appropriate song choices in order to utilize your talent properly. I swear he has sung enough filmi songs on the show so far, now its time for him to sing some songs where he can really tear the roof apart lol

I understand its not his fault when it comes to song selection, but I still believe that there should be a variety in the song selections. Why didn't they get yashraj to sing some sufi numbers, or why don't they get naushad to something out of his comfort zone. So far on the show, Sreeram has been given the best song choices according to his voice, and Shashi has been given the worst.

Not really. I am told (may be wrong) .. that in every theme, they get a set of songs and each contestant will have to pick a song. The orchestra team also has to practice for the set of songs. Hence, the contestants will pick from the list ... whether they like or not, no choice. That why .. we rarely hear from the judges that the song selection is good.

OMG! Those are two awesome performances. Where the hell is this Shashi.

Hmm....then in that case, maybe it is partly Shashi's fault as well. In Saregama, i was told (maybe wrong as well) that contestants get to appeal for their song choice according to the theme, and it is frequently accepted by the organizers

Oh how can i forget about this performance! This is what blew me away and had drawn me towards shashi in the first place

Yeah. Infact, I have seen Sreeram perform classical songs ... its AMAZING, nothing short of it. I am sure, given a chance he would pick something with more classical tinge ... But the songs they select need to be accepted by the orchestra team .. etc. So, we see only part of the talent of the singers and go by it. In my opinion (purely my opinion) .. Viswas got eliminated in the first round, but he is one of the best FOR ME ... genuine, good diction ...

Anyways, coming to this stage itself is an achievement .. and now the elimination is just the name sake and depends on many unconvincing parameters like : one day performance, song, etc ...
