IIFA Colombo rubs off on Salman Khan

Even before the hangover of a spectacular Videocon IIFA Weekend 2010 subsides, it seems like the host country, Sri Lanka has already begun reaping the benefits of playing host to IIFA's magnificent 11th edition. Recognizing the gorgeousness of the island country, and the welcoming warmth received by the Indian Film Fraternity during another magical IIFA weekend, Anees Bazmee's new film 'Ready', produced by T-Series, will now be filmed in Sri Lanka, beginning 20th June, 2010. Anees Bazmee previously famed for blockbuster movies such as Singh is Kinng, Welcome and No Entry will have Salman Khan and Asin donning the lead roles in 'Ready'.

The movie's location for shooting was originally scheduled to be Mauritius, but after enjoying a beau locale like Colombo during the Videocon IIFA Weekend, there was much enthusiasm to change locations to Sri Lanka. Salman Khan who played a key role in the IIFA Hands for Humanity Project, as the Brand Ambassador for Charity, thoroughly appreciated the kindness and generosity of the Sri Lankans and claims to be thrilled about returning to the neighbouring island.

Sri Lanka is undoubtedly excited to welcome the whole cast of 'Ready'. It seems like the exuberant aura of Sri Lanka, that received global recognition at the Videocon IIFA Weekend will prove to be a big plus for this host country in the days to come.

Salman Khan set to create record in Sri Lanka

Mumbai: Actor Salman Khan is set to create history in Sri Lanka by becoming the first actor to shoot a Bollywood film post the ethnic war in Sri Lanka. The actor is in talks with the Sri Lankan government for permissions.

He wants to do an entire shoot in Lanka and also open the sets for people to enjoy how a masala Bollywood film is made.

"I'm definitely going to do a film in Sri Lanka. Any effort that only
reflects that the country is back to normalcy should be probed. I will talk to the President (Sri Lankan prez Mahinda Rajapakse) about this entire initiative and I hope to shoot as early as possible. I will do a full-on Bollywood film. It's one of the best cultural exports of India and it could bring the two nations more closer," Salman, who is also the Habitat for Humanity ambassador in Sri Lanka, told DNA.

The actor adds, "I will open my sets to everyone in Sri Lanka to come and have a look at how a Bollywood film is made. It is really exciting to see how they love us and I feel very humble. They know everything about Bollywood — the film and the stars. They also know about our personal lives. I feel Sri Lanka and India should do many joint ventures like the one I have in mind."
