Love him or hate him...one can not deny the fact that he has been here for all seasons. Its hard to imagine Indian Idol without him now.
The presence of a Music Director is very necessary in the judges panel. This is the first time we have two MD's as judge and the results are in front of us. Most of us agree that there has been definite improvement in the quality of singers this season. There has been less fights also this time. Alisha and Anu ji were most of the time at loggerheads. Anu ji didn't even spare Udit ji. I feel singers and composers do have some different thinking. Can't understand why? Especially when one says the singer is out of sur and other says he was in sur.

Perhaps the reason why we hear this statement again and again that "SRGMP singers are better than Indian Idol" is because all judges of SRGMP are MD's.

Yeah! Just think about it guys... You're an aspiring singer and you have two choices.

Choice One - a show with FOUR MD's all of whom are working today (maybe not Aadesh Shrivastava or Bappi Lahiri or Ismail Darbar, but at least 2 or 3 in every season). They can give you breaks in many of their hit films. The show gives you a teacher-student relationship with one of these MD's. The judges have some say in the early eliminations, too.

Choice Two - a show judged by singers (especially non-A listers like Alisha Chinoy and Kailash Kher, or somebody in semi-retirement like Udit Narayan) or choreographers or actresses who can do next to nothing for your career. You know that the audience is the main decisionmaker. There are few chances for forging a relationship with top MD's.

Now most GOOD singers would choose Choice ONE - Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

Most AVERAGE singers would think they have better chances in Choice TWO - Indian Idol.

By having a TOP playback singer (Sunidhi) and one TOP MD of today (Salim), Indian Idol has now become Choice One... which is why we have such great singers in the competition again.

i actually enjoy seeing him on II......its a good laugh. Even when the singers are bad you can rely on Anu Malik to provide entertainment with his idiotic shayari & self praise....😆

I think the inclusion of singer along with the MDs is very necessary. Singers can mentor the singing of the contestants, which MDs cannot do completely. The way Sunidhi examplifies things are faboulous even a layman can understand the way she explains. So, the judging panel is very much balanced.


Talking about the elimination of Anu Malik.. No Indian Idol participant who enters the Piano Rounds, is allowed to audition again for the show.. But Anu Malik is the only person who is allowed to enter the Indian Idol competition for the consecutive five years! 😆

On a serious note, he is basically an entertainer. The comments are usually in a YES or NO motive. Either he likes something or dislikes something. I feel that being so experienced he should be a bit more critical in his view points, and tell the contestant that where exactly does he lag behind.

Never-the-less, we have to accept Anu Malik as he is. 😊
