Round 5: K.S. Chithra

Note:

Another song that fits the round pretty well. Though it might seem a little romantic, for those that have scene the movie scene, or even listen to the lyrics, or even the type of singing she does, it's more playful/naughty than romantic. So thats why it was chosen for this round.

This song has a very catchy tune. Good composition. The main sequence provides lots of challenges,

Samjho Jo Kehti HoonFirst, this song required you to follow it's beat and sing to its beat. You start singing with the beat, and then have to go low to "Nahi To...". And then from slow, it takes off and requires you to keep up with its pace with the next 4 lines, requiring to pronounce and sing at a fast pace.

All of those things were well done by Chithra. They all could've gone a little better, but still great.

The post-main sequence requires you to sing at a high pitch, and then come down to a low one at once again a fast pace. There isn't much time to breath, once again, making this a very difficult song to sing.

The ending she added a bit more, and was very nicely done. Better than the other times with all the extra things she added.


Overall, great singing. Very difficult song I must say. There were a few parts that I think could've been sung better. And also, I didn't feel much emotion from Chithraji in this song. Nonethless, there were other parts that were sung very well, especially considering how difficult this song was to sing. So good job overall,

Interesting song, I must say..

I liked the way she sung the line "Mera Dil Ka Hai Tumse Yeh Kehna.." , keeping the melody along. The shrieks are audible in parts. I felt her voice becoming uncomfortable when she had to immediately rise from a lower note to higher note. She could have added more power to her throw with more variation that could have enhanced the impact of the song. The powerful beat of the song keeps you up with the till the end. The middle notes are wonderfully sung no doubt about it.

The expressions were reasonable okay. I felt some parts could have been sung with more of emotion. For example, she could have enhanced the resonance when she said the word "samjhay". Never-the-less there are some lines which she has sung with the perfect beautiful expression it required. For example, I liked the expression she brought in the line "Itni Main Haseen Hoon.."

Overall, a reasonably good performance from Chitra. But, I felt that she could have done a much better job. Have heard better from her. So, I will give her an 8 out of 10.

What a wonderful song, this is a real fun song! 😃 Coming to the singing by Chithra ji, it was a solo, and was wondefully done, one of the few singers whose voice also create fun automatically. The best part was the 'samjhe', the effort put into that makes it sound teasing yet intimidating, as if the person singing is actually doing this:😉. And I loved how she left that word as a finishing touch. I think she deserves a 10!

Seriously if Chitra goes on with this accent throughout the contest, she can't expect a 10/10 from me...

Nice song. There were difficult parts (mainly harkats), but there was nothing that jumped out of the track for me... And this round we have some awesome performances.

If we're gonna separate best from best, this has got to be an 8/10. Great, but just not THAT great!

I love this song. Its such a preppy sweet type of song. I loved the pick up of the song. She has such a sweeeeet voice. She had the right feel and touch to the song. I found a lot of nice variations in the music which allowed her voice to fluctuate and adapt quickly. She had a very good tonal quality. I felt some words could have been a bit stretched out and emphasized a bit more. But overall the singing was very strong and good.
