Why have the creatives decided not to address the storyline any further? The last I saw Vandita threatened to kill herself if Ajit came near her. His mother tried to stop him and promised her Ajit would not go near her anymore. That's great but has that continued to be the case for Vandita? How long is she going to stay in that hell-hole - forever? I would really like to see her wake up, get a backbone and walk out. It would be far more liberating then the gissa pitta storyline where her "goodness" changes Ajit. Ajit is a rapist and nothing can erradicate that fact.

Moreover the idea that "kindness" will bring about change in a bad husband is very far-fetched. There are numerous cases where women have gone above and beyond with acts of kindess only to be continually beaten, raped and even killed by their husbands. The message the writers are sending is highly dangerous.

While I thoroughly enjoy the show and like the characters and the other storylines, I have always struggled with this one. I hope the writers do something revolutionary and are not afraid to what is RIGHT.

Hey, you missed the episode where Vandu says she learn to do 'kurbani' from Manav n Archu..
Archana has accepted everything in her sasuraal, even when she is getting divorced... Don't you think Vandu will do the same..? Atleast she is continuing to stay married unlike Archu.. :)

I dont think Vandita or any of the other Deshmukh kids have had a real good upbringing, what with an avaricious, abusive (atleast to others), self serving mother and an alcoholic father. In addition, Vandita has it drilled into her head that her life was ruined even before marriage so she really had no chance for anything. Add to it the really bad examples of marriage set before her by her parents and her brother - not to mention the nonsensical advice she receives from her SIL. Under such circumstances, it is not impossible that a girl like Vandita will feel she has no where to go but to remain married to the guy.

What is redeeming in her situation is that she is educated to an extent and may have had some exposure. So, maybe she is quiet now and watching things implode at her in laws'. If that was indeed true, she would be one of the smarter characters. I so badly wish they would show one character really use their brains.

The concept of self-sacrifice is a key coponent of all zeetv dramas and most dramas in general. It goes above and beyond thinking of others, but focuses on poor boundaries and self-destructive behaviors. Giving of oneself is a great gift, but to give oneself where you put your ownself in danger or are miserable, is not a concept that we should promote.
When a plane is crashing, the instructions are to put a mask on yourself first and then others, which means, if you do not take care of yourself FIRST you cannot be of use to anyone else. In her emotional state - demoralized and distraught - who can Vandita help? As an educated woman she is stuck at home, dressed in fancy sarees mocked at by her mother-in-law. At this point she she should work at becoming the miserable daughter-in-law and make a push towards Ajit and his mother wanting to get rid of her. Better yet, find a good looking girl who wants to marry into a rich family and see if she can get her husband interested in her.

While Vandita is currently not under pressure to sleep with Ajit, that situation is not going to last forever.

Please note, I did say she was raped after marriage and that she right now she is not pressured or continually raped to sleep with her rapist husband.
Trauma is the result of the rape or pressured (against your will) to sleep with someone.
