The high voltage entertainment show was telecast on the 28th of February and had television audiences witness some of the most amazing performances from the best of Zee TV's yesteryears and today's stars, a dazzling red carpet and the appreciation of outstanding Zee family talent. The telecast gave viewers at home a look at their favourite television stars, ensuring a night of emotion, comedy, drama, festivity and awards, highlighting familial values, relationships and the magic of everyday television entertainment. The extensive ground event was done on a large scale celebrating the Zee parampara.
The Awards were packaged with a hint of nostalgia, be it via performances from the dancing diva, Aruna Irani, who made her onstage dancing revival after a good 25 years, while Alok Nath surprised viewers with his dance performance and Aditya Narayan performed songs from his upcoming horror flick, Shapit. The various acts were choreographed by Dance India Dance judges, Remo, Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapoor. Other performances also included dance sequences and acts by actors from their shows like Chhoti Bahu and Agle Janam Mohe Bitiyann hi Kijo. Pavitra Rishta Tele-stars, Manav (Sushant) and Archana (Ankita) wooed audiences with a performance that set the stage ablaze with their medley-act requiring a series of costume changes.
The Awards, hosted by Dance India Dance host Saumya Tandon and by Manish Paul, host of the game show, Ghar Ghar Mein also saw the who's who of the Indian television industry congregate, including Ekta Kapoor, Urvashi Dholakia, Narayani Shastri, Ronit Roy, Suraj Barjatya, et al on the same stage. The GEC also paid tribute to popular filmmaker Suraj Barjatya's company Rajshri Productions. But the show also provided lighter moments with a comedy sequence from Laali (Ratan) along with Suresh Menon, Loha Singh (Sudesh Berry) and Sulochana (Savita Prabhune). The entire event had the feel of a class reunion with the team of each show cheering for its nominees, which showed that the Zee Rishtey Awards holds tremendous significance not just for the audience but for the casts of various Zee shows as well.
In the past, Wizcraft Television have conceptualized and executed many shows including, Nach Baliye 3 and 4, the IIFA Awards the Unforgettable Tour, the NDTV Greenathon 1 and 2, Saajid Superstars, Hole in the Wall, Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega and the soon to be launched Indian Idol 5.
