For me Viren was too ACPish, if you know what I mean. Abhijit Sir is all fire, very hands on, always on the job, ready for any risk. He is always there fully at that moment investigating, getting clues. I am soooooo glad that he came on board. He had initially to Sing Saab he will do CID only for 6 Months, I am so happy that its been way past that.

You misunderstood. I like both Viren and Abhijeet. The OP asked us to create our own "dream team" and what I did was simple: I analyzed all the possibilities for each post within the team (leader, second-in-command, etc) and decided who I wanted for each post. For example, we have been presented with two ACPs during the run of the series till now: Pradyuman and Prithviraj; and for me it was an easy choice: Pradyuman. Even if I compare with CIDSB's Ajatshatru, it's still ACP Pradyuman for me.

When it comes to the second-in-command of the team, there are again two choices: Viren and Abhijeet. This was a difficult choice for me since I like them both. When Viren was there, he was clearly the second-in-command and frequently took over in Pradyuman's absence. After Abhijeet joined the team he has been doing the same. Now I like them both but we can't have them both in the same team under ACP Pradyuman because well, you can't have two second-in-command officers! 😆 That's why I put it as Viren/Abhijeet. The only way I can see Viren and Abhijeet on the same team is if Viren is brought back as ACP while Pradyuman is promoted to DCP. But this is never going to happen anyway since there is no chance of Ashutosh returning as a regular character again (maybe some day B. P. Singh could convince him to make a special appearance, perhaps for CID's 25th anniversary? 😆).

Anyway, that's why I put it as an either-or selection (either Abhijeet or Viren) under ACP Pradyuman. If we come out of this "dream team" business and look the real show, I would be extremely unhappy to lose Aditya. He's a fantastic performer and the show would be crippled if he leaves. So in terms of the actual show, I wouldn't want to lose him.

I never really warmed up to Jayant and disliked Daksh so I wouldn't want them on my "dream team". Among the female officers Asha was clearly the best. Now Aditi was a cute change from a rough and tough female cop to a more uncertain newbie and she did go out a hero, a martyr. Anushka was strictly ok and Muskaan felt like a model on catwalk than a CID officer. And so on and so forth. No, when it comes to female cops on the show, it's Asha and only Asha for me. They have yet to present another female officer who can measure up to her.

And how could I leave out Fredericks (original) and Sudhakar? 😉

For the forensic dept, I like both Salunkhe (original) and Niyati and I wouldn't mind either of them or both of them since there is no reason why they can't work together and in fact, they have worked together at least once I believe. This is not like the situation with Viren and Abhijeet where we can only have one second-in-command officer not two.

As far as Daya and Abhijeet both becoming ACPs, is it necessary to turn every other thread into Daya vs Abhijeet? Abhijeet is the logical choice for the next ACP due to his seniority and position as the second-in-command. Some day in the future, Daya will become ACP too. There doesn't have to be a conflict. Daya clearly has no problems with Abhijeet taking over in Pradyuman's absence so why should we fight over this? 😊

Very nice post and I agree 100% with the bold part. One and only Asha has been the best Female Cop on the show.

asha was clearly the best!! b4 d cid reruns started, i didnt like ashwini kalsekar. but after watching d old cid epis i started to respect her! wonderful acting as asha, an all-rounder -soft but tough, sensitive yet not over-board, etc etc...
