1997 or 1998?

When did CID actually start? Some say Jan 1998 and some say April 1997. I'm confused😕 According to the calculations it should've started in 1997.

According to the interview posted in this thread, the show started on April 29, 1997. However, according to official SET India site, it was launched in January, 1998. 😕

I think the 1997 date is the correct one. My memories are a little vague but that sounds about right to me.

Irrespective of what Sony and CID Team says, I am dead sure CID started on 29th April 1997. I was going through early 2009 Episodes. For Episodes 9 Jan to 17 Apr 2009 showed the "11 Years of Glory" Logo and episode 24 Apr 2009 Episode onwards showed "12 Years of Glory" Logo. So 29th April 1997 has to be the date. I don't understand why they are saying its 12 years. I guess Sony did not recognize this feat last year.

April 1997 to Jan 1998 is 9 months, that's about first 18 cases what are they going to do with them, dump them? No wonder they did not show them during the re-runs. This stupidity is making me mad.

I saw an old case and while I was reading the ending credits I saw 1997 in them.. so I'm sure it started in 1997.. the anniversary thing is weird.

Could be the bad luck generally assocoated with the number 13. They ask us not to believe in all this in the episodes and they themselves are being supersitious.

But that is still silly aaj nahin to kal kabhi to offically 13th year complete hoga na. 2010 meain naa sahii but as per new date Jan 2011 mein 13 years honge na. Kabhi na Kabhi to 13 years honge, to abhi kyon nahin.

Are yaar chodo naa. 1997 HO YA 1998, meri tamanna bas yahi hai ki CID hamesha chalta rahe.
