Salman Khan is for Rs 75,000 while Shah Rukh is priced Rs 60,000. These are not the going rates for highly sought after actors in Bollywood but the prices of highly sought after goats in Patna's Bakrid market. But the owner says he is selling them cheap.
"The market is dull due to high price. So the prices of these goats have come down. Prices have fallen in the market," says goat seller Mokim.
Due to their high price tags, there have been no buyers of goats named after superstars in the last 15 days. People come to see them and not to buy them.
"I have come here on the occasion of Bakrid. After coming here I heard that goats named after Salman and Shah Rukh are also on sale. So I came to see them," says a buyer Mohammad Wakil.
So shopekeepers are blaming the low sales volume on economic slowdown.
"A 10-12 kg animal is selling between Rs 10,000-12,000. How will we celebrate Bakrid? I have not see te goat named Shah Rukh but have heard that the price is more than Rs 1 lakh," says another buyer Haider.
But Salman and Shah Rukh aren't complaining because of the recession they live to see another Bakrid.
