Katrina's latest film APKGK is on it's way to become a super hit. The reports have been super and Katrina must be on top of this world. This has definitly been HER year as she has success in Newyork, APKGK, and De Dhan Dhan is expected to open big. If it does, Katrina will have three bonafide Hits in 2009. A year, when there have been very few hits alltogether. There will be no stopping her then.
Her comeptiton Kareena and Priyanka have not had such a fantastic year. While Kambhakt Ishq was a success, MAMK was defintly not. Same for PC, as Kaminey was a success but WYR was not.
Katrina is very smart for chossing the right kind of films that actualy manage to do Good at the box office. More improtantly the youth LOVE Katrina.
However, this phase will come to an end sooner or later unless she brings more to her films than just her looks. But right now that does not matter.
This might sound absurd, but the fact that she has will have three big hits in one year, she may just go on to win Best actress for New York. Film awards care about Box office only.
Has Katrina officially become No.1 this year?

If DDD works its gonna be a hit no one can stop her being the number 1 i agree she has to go long before she can be called a good actress but her films r successful she's very lucky

I agree with both of you above...she is plain lucky...and in NY she got to mouth 2-3 lines heavy dialouge...thats all...she has a long long way to go before she is even considered as a good actress.....

she can only do an NRI or catholic caracters...not geet or characters of WYR!

Yep she has a bit more hard work to do in regards to her acting skills and dialogue comprehension- otherwise she is good

oh wow!!!!!! yes i am just waiting for DDD to be a hit then there is no stopping kat. there is no such thing as luck. from a girl who had probably not seen a hindi movie in her entire life to a top indian actress she has come a long way, purely on her merit. she worked hard to be here. learnt hindi, the ways of an indian girl, adapted to the culture and people. she is not shabana azmi but she is does act convincingly. her expression r in place (she has improved on her acting in the years) its just that she needs to get rid of her accent and MTI.
rest all the things she is very nice and can do only better.

The best part about her is that she does not try to work on only certain films which gives her scope to perform.

She does every film which she sees as a potentiol to make the box office collections ring in the cash registers.

Many should learn from her. Work with a star and a commercial film which guarantees success. The aam junta does not care about the role these days.

So true. Hard work is important and I won't say that she is not working hard. I think everyone works hard. She is also lucky and of course, her linkup with Salman also helps.

She is beautiful but she is miles behind in acting department. However, I like the fact that she is aware that she has not achieved much in terms of acting.

Oh I hope she is NOT number 1!! Katrina doesn't deserve that spot. I think that spot should go to someone like Rani, Kareena, or Priyanka who are not only beautiful, but they have proved their acting abilities. Katrina is only beautiful but that's about it. Even her beauty is starting to get boring for me now. If her movie does well, it's usually because of her looks and the man she pairs up with. I don't think she can be successful alone.

She cannot be #1 because her lucky run will end one day. Let's see how long it lasts but she will never be #1 because she will never be a great actress. Box office success is important but talent finds a way of creeping back up when you least expect it to.
