I've been meaning to post this for a while, but better late than never.

In the Vashisth household, CM enjoys a power and prestige that's unparalleled, and nobody thinks of ever questioning her. That seems to be partly b'cos she's the senior most member of the family, after Mahendranath & Gayatri. As a result, no matter how obnoxious or insensetive her behavior may be, Pankaj, Uday, Pratik and Jyoti can say nothing to her, since they all seem to be brought up to never question them.

But the thing I wonder - what about Mahendranath & Gayatri? Here are 2 very decent people, well grounded, who don't seem to share any of Bhairvi's values. In fact, whenever Bhairavi made her insensetive comments re: Jyoti, these 2 would be embarrassed. Yet they never criticize her, upbraid her or do anything. I can understand them being extra sensetive to her ~20 years ago, when she lost Kailash, but that doesn't give her a carte blanche for her boorish behavior. It's high time they factored in that she's hurting the younger ones in the family like Pankaj, Jyoti, Uday and maybe Pratik, and that if she keeps this up, the family will sooner or later come apart.

The other day, when CM called KK and yelled at him, Mahendranath visited him later to apologize. If that's what he thought of her behavior, why didn't he and Gayatri read her the riot act, and tell her that the time has come to either rein in her behavior, or leave the house - without Uday. After all, in this setting, he is the head of the household, and everyone, including Uday, belong to him, so it's not like if CM leaves, Uday automatically will.

On a related note, Pankaj and Uday should tell Minal how she can and can't behave with either Jyoti or Sudha.

Anyway, poll question: how many of you think Mahendranath & Gayatri should be more assertive about how Bhairavi behaves, both in public and in private?

yeah, i think M&G should really do something abt that cm and her daughter

today she was so rude to pankaj and talked to him like an outsider

wasnt she the one who said that pankaj is more like her own then the others? she let pankaj having a wife get in the way between them

what does cm want? that she should be reigning and ruling over pankaj's life forever? shouldnt he have a wife and be his own person? Geez, get a life woman

enough is enough, how long can they put up with her?

Yeah, it's not like Uday is going to get his offspring from Minal or Bhairavi, so why are they so obsessed? Seriously, Bhairavi has become unbelievably unhinged, and this is just not real - people don't go from normal - which Bhairavi previously was - to unhinged. And Pankaj is not interfaring in her life - since when is Uday's life her life? Never mind her total ingratitude for the years of shelter and support she has received from M&G - from home to their son to all the luxuries. On one hand, she is obsessed with the honor and tradition of the family, and yet, she lives like a 5 star widow. Why doesn't she dress like Dadi, if 'izzat' means so much to her?

Yeah, Padma hates the entire Vashisth family, just as Bhairavi hates the Sharmas. So Padma would have opposed Suday anyway, but KK having this legitimate reservation about Sudha's well being gave her the perfect foil to be a spoiler. And at the end, she talks about how she had warned them about Uday but they ignored her as a step-mom, obviously alluding to KK's accusation that she was warned about Brij but ignored Jyoti as a step-daughter. Does this cretin really think Brij & Uday are in the same league?

I suspect that even if CM's opposition is removed - let's say by her permanently leaving, or Uday splitting from the family - Padma will still try and block Suday. And reason is jealousy - Padma knows that Sushma is the only loser in the family, and can't bear the fact that not only Jyoti, but even Sudha has found a man who genuinely loves her and is willing to live with her ailments, and/or help her heal, while her own Sushi has lived with an abusive husband and is now carrying the baby of that failed marriage, thereby making her even more attractive to any prospective grooms than she already is.

I seriously dont understand why mahendranath and gayatri are always quite and listen to all the crap of cm...it looks like she is the one who is the owner of house and other r her servants..yeah she keeps saying she has done dis dt for the family so wht????dt doesnt give her the rite to insult everyone..
jyoti is the dil of the house and the way cm and meenal talks to her is so disgusting....meenal and cm doesnt know anything abt sudha dn how come dey r so sure dt sudha tried to trap uday and dt too when uday keeps telling them tht he is the one who proposed sudha..
i never critisized cm when she was against jyoti cuz i thought she is rite dt jyoti should give importance to her sasural but now cm is crossing all the limts and blaming jyoti and sudha both without any proof..

MN and G are waaay too nice of people to constantly put up with B's rude and demeaning antics. She's sooo bossy and mean to Jyoti and Sudha. Pankaj should really stand up for Jyoti and Uday should stand up for Sudha! It's not disrespectful to if you do it politely.

For Bhairavi, this cannot be done politely - both Pankaj & Uday have tried. It's MN who needs to remind her who's boss, and tell her that Uday's decision will be acceptable to them, and if she doesn't like it, she can leave the family - without Uday. And I agree w/ you - she's the younger bahu in that generation, but behaves like she owns the place. Jyoti isn't even her own DIL, and yet, she orders her as though she is. Now, when Uday wont eat, Jyoti is asked to make sure he does. Uday should tell her that feeding him is Sudha's prerogative, not Jyoti's or Bhairavi's.

The other way - assuming that MN & G do nothing - would be for Uday to explain everything to MN & G, tell them that he refuses to live w/ Bhairavi any more, quit her company, and tell them all that either she leaves or he leaves. Throw them the gauntlet. If cm is so invaluable to them, let them lose Uday and be happy that way. But Uday is doing the wrong thing by trying to press Sudha before he has converted cm, or made her irrelevant. Sudha should tell him that it's not her family that's convinced her to stay away from him, but his.
