It is a shame that the "magical" mentors AS & HR support someone in the audience when she said that "we are looking for the voice of India not voice of Assam".

Zee TV and the producers of Saregamapa are primarily at fault, because of the following reasons:

1. Who started the regional conversations? Calling the participants "Hurricane from Haryana", "Mumbai-chi ladli" etc, does foster the regional sentiments.

2. For some reason (that I still do not agree), the competition is based on India voting. Now, why do they announce the percentage of votes from a per region base. Isn't India divided into multiple states. Why mention the break-up of the states, when Zee TV, as a national channel, should foster unity and mention only the total votes.

3. All this ruckus is being made about Debojit getting 80% of the votes from the 7 NE states.

Take a look at the census data from 2001. See for yourself, what the population is in each state.

https://www.mapsofindia.com/census2001/population/population- india.htm

Granted that they do announce the percentages, but should they also not annouce the total number of votes. If my base is 10 and I get 2 more then that represents a 20% increase from 10 to 12. If my base is 100 and I get 5 more, then that represents a 5% increase from 100 to 105.

The 7 states in the NE put together, have a population less that that of UP.

If you really break the demographics down, here are some more points to consider:

a. How many folks in the NE watch Saregamapa?

b. How many folks in the NE have cell phones, internet access etc.

c. How many how match both the above criteria, actually vote ?

We are all one, there is no point is folks saying East or West, India is the best, when we do not take steps to foster kinsmanship amongst all regions. We are ONE voice, irrespective of our state of origin.

Zee TV should chastize the mentors for letting them talk such on national television. It is a forum that should be respected and not try to be communalized. Even readers of this forum, who especially take such a tone, should refrain from doing so. Every vote counts, no matter state of origin.

Unity in Diversity !!!

Jai Hind.
