| Sonam Dares to be Different By MovieTalkies.com, 26 September 2009 |
| Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' may not have done well at all but its young actors have all managed to find their way in Bollywood and are considered hot property. I mean, look at Ranbir Kapoor and see the manner in which his career has taken off. Even the young Sonam Kapoor has fared quite well. Sonam may not have tasted the kind of heady success that Ranbir did, but she has managed to create a kind of niche for herself, which is no mean task in this industry. Of course! being the daughter of Anil Kapoor has helped her to a great extent. After all, her father is producing a film for daughter dearest, titled 'Aisha', which sees Sonam cast opposite Abhay Deol. Her second film, 'Delhi 6' too may not have fared very well at the box office, but Rakesh Mehra's labor of love has quite immortalized her character in the movie as the 'Masakali' girl. What sets Sonam apart from the rest of the young actresses her age is perhaps the fact that she is an actress who is much more relaxed about her profession. She intends to be an actress and it shows from her choice of role models. It is actresses like the late Nutan and Waheeda Rehman who are a source of inspiration for her. What inspires her about them is the fact that they dared to take chances with their roles. And that is what Sonam would like to do with her career. Make her own choices, and stand out as actress, and be admired not just for her looks but her acting skills as well. |
