Aishwarya is Salman's 'biggest fan'

It's not the Ash you're thinking about ... She's a Delhi teen who almost fainted when Sallu walked the ramp at India Mens Week

Maybe it's got to do with the fact that this is New Delhi, that you won't find Saif Ali Khan roam at Khan Market the way he does at Pali Naka.

So, when 17-year-old Aishwarya Singh (life is all about coincidences) saw Salman Khan from a foot away, as he walked the ramp for the grand finale of India Mens Week in Delhi last night, she was minutes away from fainting.

Speechless

The standard 12 student of Vasant Valley School was there with friends Yujir Kapoor and Tamira Sethi. "What can I say! It's a dream come true.

I've watched every film of his. But the Barjatya ones and Jaaneman and Yuvraaj are the best," she said.

Out of breath, she sat through Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya to watch Salman, who drops by for a 10-minute cameo.

Second to none

"Ranbir is not even half as good." And there's no chance that you'll see her stand nervously in a packed audience if Shah Rukh Khan walked the ramp.

It's just not his on screen, larger-than-life persona that sends her in a tizzy. "I love everything about him. He's a passionate person, and that reflects in his love for dogs, kids and old people.

He's genuine," added the teenager. But when she finally managed to meet him backstage after making a dash, she admits, words didn't quite match up. All she blurted was, "I'm your biggest fan."

To that Salman said, "Oh. Wow!"

Salman floors women at men's fashion week

Love him or hate him, you simply can't ignore him. Bollywood actor Salman Khan wooed women with his charming smile as he strode the ramp at the finale of the Van Heusen India Men's Week (VHIMW) here Sunday night.

Looking confident, the actor walked with poise when designers Ashish Soni, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna of label Cue showcased their collection. All through his walk, the actor kept looking at the audience who were waving, whistling and yelling to get his attention.

'Wow!' exclaimed a female fan when the actor walked in Soni's black suit.

Sitting in the front row, another young girl kept one hand on her heart and one on her mouth as she couldn't believe that her favourite actor was just a few inches away from her.

'I just can't believe it. I am his biggest fan and trust me I am still shaking because the feeling of having him just a few inches away from me is giving me goose bumps,' confessed Ishita Arora.

'There was a point when I thought that I would hug him on the ramp. I am sure no one would have stopped me. But I couldn't muster up enough courage,' she added.

As the designers and the actor were taking a final bow on the ramp, Salman took off his coat filling the hall with cheers and whistles. But it was not just women, men too had joined them. Salman appeared to be loving the attention.

There were some men in the audience who were envious of the actor because of his well-maintained body.

'He is so fit. How does he manage that? Look at him. Does he look like he is forty something,' asked Vikram Nagpal, a model.

It was not just the magic of Khan but the designers at the finale too left a lasting impression in the audience's mind.

While Soni's 'On the Run' collection comprised of flawlessly cut tuxedos, cotton shirts, jackets and pants for a leaner sexier look, Rahul and Rohit's collection 'Hypernature' had pants with dropped crotches, small collars with thin ties and denim suits in forest green, apple red, mist blues and evergreen-black.

Also present at the finale were actress Mugdha Godse and director Madhur Bhandarkar.

Sick or not sick, Salman a ramp-scorcher

Swati Rastogi (Headlines Today)
New Delhi, September 14, 2009

Actor Salman Khan put his ill-health aside to keep his commitment for a ramp walk at the grand finale of the Men's Fashion Week in Delhi.

Salman was visibly unwell but that didn't stop him from delivering his best on the runway on Sunday.

"I was very sick. My nose was constantly running. It was difficult to walk. Everyone thought I had swine flu," Salman told Headlines Today.

Salman scorched the ramp in jackets carrying the logo of 'Being Human', his non-profit organisation. He walked for not one but two shows. Surely for designers Ashish Soni, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, who could be a better show-stopper?

Salman also had a message for everyone. "If you can give away a bit of your money to save someone's life or improve the quality of life, then do it. It's better than keeping that money in the bank," he said.

Unwell Salman walks the ramp at Men's fashion week

Bollywood star Salman Khan wowed the audience at the recently concluded men's fashion week.

Bollywood star Salman Khan wowed the audience at the recently concluded men's fashion week in the capital as he acted show-stopper for two designers at the Grand Finale night.

Even though he was unwell, the actor appeared in his full attitude and removed the jacket in style as he reached the head of the ramp late last night.
"I am not well and I have a severe headache," said the 43-year-old star, who was there to support the cause of his own NGO 'Being Human' despite suffering from flu.

Dressed in a black suit, the actor walked down the ramp twice, once for Ashish Soni's collection inspired by the chase sequence in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Don' and again for designer-duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna's 'Hypernature'.

"Salman is a very close friend, I understand his sensibility and style of clothing. I have worked with him in the past for Mayur Suitings and I know what he likes to wear," said designer Ashish Soni.

Justifying their choice of Salman as the showstopper, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna said, "Why not Salman? He is contemporary and smart. He looked like a professional model on the ramp."

Also present at the finale were director Madhur Bhandarkar and model turned actor Mugdha Godse.

Delhi can't get enough of Salman

By: Shweta Shiware Date: 2009-09-14 Place: New Delhi

A room bursting to its seams, enough to give a new meaning to sardines-in-a-can new meaning. Salman Khan's sisters Alvira and Seema trying to squeeze into an already-packed media row, spotlights spewing sparks, the audience (half of them standing) huddled while models walk the ramp in Ashish Soni garments - recipe for breaking news on TV, perhaps?

Or a reiteration that Delhi is mad about Bollywood.

Salman Khan walked the ramp for Ashish Soni, and Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, wide-eyed Delhiites. He was there not to promote his forthcoming film, Wanted, but his NGO, Being Human, we were told. Pics/Rajiv Tyagi
