I'll spell this out, since the subject field and poll question are too limited.

We've seen Jyoti go out of her way to help Sushma and even Brij ever since finding out about her from Deepu & Padma. Those who appreciate her values would definitely admire this saintly aspect of hers to look beyond the fact that such gestures are unappreciated not only by Sushma, but by Padma as well. No matter what, she'd do anything for her maakya.

But now, there is also her sasural, and here, what she is doing is not above board. First of all, she supresses any information about Sushma from Pankaj, even though there is no reason to (actually, the only reason is that it's been lies from day 1), and to support that, she treats her sasural like it's not her own. So even if one admires her loyalty towards her maakya, she's also being equally disloyal towards her in-laws by either lying to them, or supressing such a major portion of her life. If she had disowned Sushma & Brij completely and didn't give 2 hoots about them, this might have been justified under the grounds of moving on, but here, she on one hand, is worrying herself sick about Sushma and even disrupting the evening w/ Pankaj, while keeping him in the dark about what's bothering her.

The question - is this double standard making you like Jyoti less, to the point that if this is the thing that gets her kicked out by Pankaj, you'd say that she created this situation and deserves what she got?

Or would you say that despite anything she does, she's suffered enough, and doesn't deserve to suffer more?

Oh, and one more option I left in - if you happen to be one of those saintly Yudhisthir types who thinks that no matter what Sushma does to her, she's her little sister and Jyoti should continue helping her, even if it risks wrecking her marriage, looting her providend fund, and other self destructive activities, then option 4 above is for you.

I think that when you have been stung once and still you recover and go back then you are not a soft heart you are simply foolish and dumb. As for Jyoti i think she is not only foolish to still go and try to help sushma and brij but also selfish and rather devilish towards Pankaj for hiding the truth. i dont feel any pain for her she deserves to be kicked out. everyone goes around either pitiing her or rambling about her big sacrifice for marrying a blind man but i feel they should do the opposite and pity Pankaj, for getting a wife who is almost taking advantage of him being blind and hiding everything and anything possible from him and still expects him to understand.... i dont think so..... just my two cents

She seems to keep brining problems onto herself now
She has a perfect like with Pankaj and the the Vashishts
No one treats her like a goose that lays golden eggs, she doesn't have to slave away all day
She can just enjoy life now
But she just keeps creating difficulties for herself

If any relative of mine behaved w/ me the way Sushma did w/ Jyoti, I'd have parted company w/ her, and ignored any troubles she was in. I don't go around scouting all my relatives for any trouble they may have. Just the ones who are in normal contact w/ me and who approach me for support are the ones I support.

Also, while it's true that a lot of women retain their own family loyalty even after marriage, what Jyoti does is unbelievable, and in fact, not done in normal society - putting own family on a priority above the others. Also ignored in your analysis is the ill-treatment that Padma meted out to not just Jyoti, but Sudha as well. But Jyoti seems to gloss over that and put Sushma on a higher priority.

When I first read the spoiler summary, I was shocked that Pankaj could be that hard hearted towards Jyoti, but seeing the way the story is unfolding, not only is he justified, but I don't see him having much choice. What is he to do? For Jyoti's sake, is he supposed to bail out Sushma, Brij and every piece of scum that has ever been associated w/ Jyoti?
