What does she seek to gain by her actions?

She wants to bring change to the household, she says. What has she done to that end?

To date, all she has done is disobey her FIL at every step, then accept his punishments. Not only accept, but EMBRACE. She happily wears the bells on her feet even after finding out their purpose. If she continuously acccepts his punishments, then what is the point of her disobedience? Why bother teaching Bhavna to dance when in the end, all of them are going to be severely reprimanded...and instead of protesting the punishment, they all agree with it? She had attempted speaking out against Thakur just once, when he scolded her for playing hopscotch, and she was shot down. She should have learned at that moment that she would not get anywhere with this man. What does she expect now? That he will see them dancing like buffoons in the courtyard and decide to join in and break into a full-fledged Bollywood song an dance routine? 😆

Thakur is a pig no doubt, but I can't blame him for being so furious with Jhanvi. I'm actually surprised he hasn't done anything much worse to her yet given his temper and violent streak. She should consider herself lucky.

😆 Jhanvi accepts the punishments gleefully . With unrestrained , pure joy , as if she is on the path to self realization . That is the whole point of disobeying her sasur , those punishments that give her ecstasy . It is totally a spiritual thing that we viewers miss , only few like the scriptwriters know about it and they will let us know in due course .
Not only that , she forces her husband to apologize for mistakes the poor chap hasn't even committed . The lallu , probably fearing a lonely night on the haveli couch [ if there is such a thing in that haveli ], immediately caves in . There is nothing much he can do about his wife's gluttony for punishment anyway . She had laid down the rules for him before marraige itself ............She decides and he listens . I have seen feminists and masochists but I don't know a phrase for feminists who are masochists . In taming Nikhil to the point that the chappie is terrified to use his brains is a feminist gesture , the gluttony for sasur's punishments is a masochistic one . So I am terribly confused . I know exactly what Suman Bhabhi is ..........I don't know what Jhanvi is .
On a side note , I too , feel sorry for the sasur . I mean , the old brute was happy in his haveli , chewing paan and smoking hookah , grandiose turbans and all , with women like Suman washing his feet and serving him hot food on tippy toes , having his sneak trips at midnight to commemorate his past and returning in the mornings to grand breakfasts that he ate with a sneer without anyone questioning him as to where he had gone gallivanting in the night . And here comes the new bahu and what does she do ? Instead of enjoying suhaag raats with his wimpy son and producing extra recipes during breakfast , lunch and dinner , she starts digging in his colourful past [ besides playing hopscotch by lifting her ghaagras to show her ankles in front of his astounded eyes and almost bringing an attack of apoplexy to him]
and invades his space and worst than that , doesn't even mind the punishments that he gives her in a bid to maintain his hold over the house , she actually laps them up and disobeys all over again! The old man has never experienced anything like this and he has lost all appetite for those steaming hot dishes served by women cowering behind veils , making him feel like a Sultan or sumthing . Why , he doesn't even enjoy throwing the food on the floor with a flick of his hairy , manly , hand . I feel sorry for the old brute , truly .😆

I think these sisters think that marriage is a rite of passage ritual. In Jhanvi's case, she believes she can bring glorious change into a static, dehumanizing house by being tolerant. What I don't understand is, why she thinks that it is okay for Thakurjee to forbid the "blasphemous" sin of laughing? Why does she even agree to be "bound" by those anklets? Wasn't she in a brothel as a prostitute? What's the difference of her being in Thakur jee's house and her being in that brothel when in both places, there is not one ounce of freedom? Didn't she leave prostitution to be free? To be free from men walking over her? Isn't Thakurjee doing the same thing, but in a different way? Why does she accept Thakur jee's rules like they are from God? Nakh se pair tak nautanki karti hai. She should just pick a side because there is no middle-ground for this one! She can't be singing "Haaye haaye yeh majboori" and then bust out with "Aaj main upar". 🤢

I agree with all of you 200%!!! Obnoxious - that's what Janvi is. She makes me as disgusted as disgusted can get. This serial is supposed to give us a moral?? HUUUUUH. The only serial which imparts good lessons is Antara now.

That line right there says it all! On one hand she says the rules are made by humans not God, and then on the other hand she accepts and justifies them as if they WERE created by God. She is an utter masochist. Again today Nikhil tried to get her out of that house, and again she insisted on staying there and embracing her punishment as some kind of blessing (in the US.).

The hilarious part is when Nikhil tells her that she is unable to follow the rules and she acts all shocked and appalled even though all she has done to date in that house is break the rules. Now in two days she will be breaking some other rule by teaching Bhavna to dance.

What a trainwreck she must be to make us all pity a person like Thakurji 😆

u know what the writers of this show have lost there plot, the show from being brilliant to a toatal bore & senseless saga
where is the justification in a woman like jhanvi obeying thrash that comes out of that bully of a man, who thinks being a man,he has the birthright to treat women like piece of thrash
but the arrogant man forgot if it wasn't for a woman,he wouldn't be sitting here acting like a prision officer
an a prostitute who fought all the hardship in life against the most ruthless men & handled them single handly, without a fear of any kind
all of a sudden has become an a ideal bahu, who is willing to let a brute get away with carrying on treating women as his prisioners, makes no sense
these writers are annoying me no end, they should have made her stand up to the bully & turn all the women against him to teach him a lesson
instead from being brave & standing up to him,all of a sudden she has become an ideal bahu, which century these silly writers live in
brainless bimbo manka hits nayti, the loud mouth sarsvati watches quietly, what a joke
boring & tedious rasik is back with his usual boring dialogues & the same old tricks
irritating rasali bahi & kajri, all three playing the same game with grodias
are grodias totally brainless or the writers think we viewers are stupid
stop this show before some one starts throwing tomato at this joke of a show

I hate that part too, when writers don't keep the personalities of characters consistent. There is no point in making a show popular if all the work in its foundation is rickety. I know these producers want to make a good show, but they should do it diligently. The people who watch the shows aren't stupid. They can tell the difference when one character has a goatee in the beginning of one episdoe and is clean shaven the same day and then goes back to having a goatee at night. Are they trying to advertise for some speedy hair growth formula? It's ridiculous! The way they try to solve problems with their cricket matches in sarees and their stupid rona dhona shows a lack of unrealism. Every family suffers from its own problems, but people in those homes don't just start crying at every sentence. People don't start giving lectures. I know in my house, whenever we have issues, we discuss it during dinner or lunch together. We definately don't stand around a coffee table, making exaggerated expressions, doing nothing. Whatever happened to dignified problem solving?

Maybe Neeta's herbal is secretly sponsoring them 😆

I hate how every problem is solved with dancing. Whether it is Lakshmi getting the money for Surya's surgery, or Jhanvi...actually, I do not even remember why that stupid track of Jhanvi and the dancing school happened, but whatever the problem was, dancing played a role in its resolution. Now it's Bhavna dancing for school. Dancing is what brought Durga and Ranbir together. Is this the stock and trade for all womankind? Only Gauri has yet to perform some kind of dance ritual. Maybe that is how she will win over Akash.

Also, on that note, no one gets ill from not being able to do what they want. Otherwise all of us would have fevers. Sorry Bhavna! Don't you love how her fever just disappears when they tell her she can participate?
