Google OS Vs MS. Windows 7 : Is it worthy ??😛😊😛

After 2 years of Vista launch Finally Microsoft releases Windows 7 on Octobor 22 2009 officially to the public. Windows Xp at its end days but still continues. The news comes just months before Microsoft launches the latest version of its operating system, called Windows 7.😳

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8081003.stm

Google is developing an operating system (OS) for personal computers, in a direct challenge to market leader Microsoft and its Windows system.😃

Google Chrome OS will be aimed initially at small, low-cost netbooks, but will eventually be used on PCs as well.

Google said netbooks with Chrome OS could be on sale by the middle of 2010.😃

Which OS will cope up to the best. Both Google and Microsoft battling for the best. Will there be any confusion among customers ?? Which one will last ?? How do you feel about it ??😛

Have used Vista. Said to be a terrible product, causes lots of problems.
How will Google stand up to MS? How may OS releases has it done?
The only thing I know how Microsoft Corp. mounted a renewed effort against Google Inc. is with the announcement of a new Internet search engine called Bing designed to make hunting for online information easier. The Redmond, Wash., company is expected in the coming weeks to support the launch of Bing with a major new advertising campaign in print, television and on the Internet, spending $80 million to $100 million on the effort, according to people familiar with the matter. Microsoft said it will launch its new search engine at Bing.com on June 3.
Is'nt the cold war between Pepsi and Coke more interesting?

There is a gradual shift to open source softwares. Linux for instance. Even amongst the paid ones, Mac always has a cult following.

I think Google are taking a giant leap. They should've first gotten into the software market with some tool available across OSes, which would've laid the foundations to creating an all encompassing software.

It's a smaller shift for us users to change from Google to Bing than from Windows OS to Google OS

I'm solidly in the Microsoft corner maybe because I work primarily on Microsoft products 😊 - Although i have to say i do not like Vista. It requires too much of RAM and space but I'm assured by various people even within MS that the next version will be much better.
I still need to set it up and try it out.
But that said I think Google is the one company that can give competition to MS. Mainly because they have the brain power and the right attitude. For almost anything that you would want to do - these are the two things that are needed. Chrome is good and is catching up fast. But OS ialong with Office is the bread and butter to MS so I'm sure they also have a strategy that they are thinking about.
Another point to note - there is always an inertia in people and they don't make a change unless it is required and Windows has one of the largest customer base. Its like using Bing - I like Bing, but then I've used Google search for so long that i invariably go to google search itself first.
Wow i didn't know IF had a debate mansion also - great to know this.

Its really refreshing to see Google coming up with this OS. From the inital buzz, it seems google is primarily focussing on "netizens" . I'll have high hopes from google's OS but i am afraid that in their eagerness to connect us to the internet straight after booting, they might forget to give us basic softwares😆.

Talking about windows 7, not high hopes to say the least !😆 But i am sure that some competition from google would encourage them only to progress faster. And if they are not upto it, we might see a major change at the top.

But eventually , the fact is , its too early to call.

I dont use windows much these days. Regarding windows faster or slower, its strange that on one hand hardware advances and speed doubles, whereas, on the other hand newer versions of windows slow down to half :) thus speed remains constant almost.

I mostly use Linux, for example now, and chrome looks good, but we will know more in future.
