I think it is annoying that she keeps saying that, but I don't agree that Indian girls should only dress a certain type of way. In big Indian cities, lots of girls dress in Western clothes and nobody thinks it's a big deal. It's common.

People should have freedom to dress in whatever style they want, it is a personal choice really.

I agree but it irks me that she has keeps saying she is representing Indian Women when no one wants her to be their role model. Sorry but i know she has struggled to get where she is and in principle, i like that she wants equality for women but there are more ways to be accepted as an equal in society than to take the route of fame and fortune. She is a confused soul i feel, she wants to maintain that she is for justice for women and then she says that she doesnt care what people think as she deserves happiness, and she is living for heself now after being selfless for so many years than why does she need the approval of the Indian public?!

She should just keep being bindaas and stop justifiying herself with this 'equality' bhasan. Also, i'm not stone hearted, i feel for her when she says she had a hard childhood and her family sees her as nothing but a money making machine but like she said God will give her due happiness. Those who do without expecting anything in return reap the rewards for sure so she needs to stop using that as her excuse for every decision she makes in life!

Rakhi is an Indian Girl. She's Indian ... just like you are Indian, and I am Indian. Clothing or behavior does not make the Indian woman. Yes, it is true that many of us were brought up with ideals about how Indian woman should be and how we should carry ourselves. But all Indians are just not like this today. Some cover, and some do not. And, her dressing in any way does not stop her from being an Indian girl.

Our culture requires us (both men and women) to wear decent clothing that does not reveal what should not be seen. An Indian is one who follows our culture, whether one believes that or not. Is it not merely to live in India, but to act like a proper Indain person.
It is not at all wrong to wear western clothes, but there are decent respectable western clothes as well. No one told her to wear revealing clothes. It's disgusting.🤢

But, whose culture is this?
Looking back at history, there were several groups of people who did not dress in what we today think are traditional or decent dress. What about in parts of South India where women who were not the most upper castes went topless? This was not considered indecent at the time. It was part of the culture. And, it's only when the missionaries came to these areas that they deemed this indecent.
And, what is the limit of decency? What if I said for me (a Muslim), for a woman not to wear sleeves or cover her shoulders is indecent, to have a neckline of a dress not to be at your neck and to reveal chest is indecent, etc.. Yet, it's very accepted today by many girls that they wear sleeveless outfits with the back or the front cut lower than at the neck. So, is my sense of decency Indian, or is yours?
What we need to remember is that everyone has a different sense of what is acceptable. I cannot condemn someone for dressing differently than what I would call decency. They have to decide what is right for them. And, for Rakhi to feel comfortable in a western dress with the back gone or whatever does not take away from the fact that she is indeed an Indian girl.
It's nice to debate this - I feel great that everyone is standing up for their Indian-ness. But, in the process of doing so, I do not feel we have a right to judge Rakhi. We do not know her intentions and can only make assumptions.
