Coming straight to the point Hiten and khemi both like each other and both think that other person does not like him/her.
Remember khemi giving him a long lecture about her majburis and she was so convincing to him that she ended up believing it.
She feels that he is maliks son hence he wont accept her and he thinks that she is the village belle who will never accept him as her life revolves around her nana and his happiness. She doesnt like that Shampoo guy a but but still e thinks he is getting her happiness by convincing her to get married to him as her nana will be happy by this.
So I would say that these are two idiots who are hopelessly in love with each other but are bound by their own whims and hence spoiling things for themsleves.
Khemi has one more point as she is the elder sister of Santu dear she cannot even think of creating any complexities for her sister, which will definitely happen if she marries or even confesses her love for Hiten.
