2005 was a tough year for Bollywood at the Box Office. But with the biggies all set to return, 2006 looks better set. We pick the 'Must See' flicks of the coming year.

Rang De Basanti
Director:
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
Producer:
UTV
Cast:
Aamir Khan. Soha Ali Khan, Waheeda Rehman, Om Puri, Kiron Kher, Madhavan, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Anupam Kher
Must See reason:
It's an Aamir Khan-starrer directed by Rakeysh Mehra, who made his directorial debut with Aks. Though the film didn't fare well at the Box Office, Rakeysh was accredited for his effort and guts to make such a different film. However, with Aamir Khan in a new avaatar, Rang De Basanti remains one to watch out for.

Family
Director:
Rajkumar Santoshi
Producer:
Amitabh Bachchan, Keshu Ramsay
Cast:
Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Bhoomika Chawla, Aryeman
Must See reason:
After Viruddh in 2005, Amitabh Bachchan will produce Family this year. It'll be interesting to see Amitabh play an underworld kingpin in this dramatic action-packed motion flick. New talent Aryaman will also be launched in this movie.

Munnabhai Meets Mahatma
Director:
Rajkumar Hirani
Producer:
Vidhu Vinod Chopra
Cast:
Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Vidya Balan, Boman Irani
Must See reason:
Munnabhai Meets Mahatma is the prequel to the hugely successful Munnabhai MBBS. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani once again, this one is sure to be as hilarious.

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna
Director:
Karan Johar
Producer:
Dharma Productions
Cast:
Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Urmila Matondkar, Preity Zinta, , Arjun Rampal, Kiron Kher
Must See reason:
Karan Johar returns to wield the directorial baton after five years. His last being Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001. As usual, Karan's film includes a stellar starcast and one can only expect a stellar film from the Dharma stable.

Don
Director:
Farhan Akhtar
Producer:
Ritesh Sidhwani
Cast:
Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Isha Koppikar, Mallika Sherawat
Must See reason:
For starters, it's a remake of one of AB's biggest hits, 'Don' and a Shah Rukh Khan film to boot, directed by the very talented Farhan Akhtar – of Dil Chahta Hai and Lakshya fame. It'll be interesting to see how SRK does a Bachchan, banarasi paan and all.

Krrish
Director:
Rakesh Roshan
Producer:
Rakesh Roshan
Cast:
Rekha, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sharat Saxena, Puneet Issar, Naseeruddin Shah, Preity Zinta (Special App)
Must See reason:
Koi Mil Gaya rocked the Box Office; and Krrish is the sequel. No wonder then that children and adults alike are looking forward to it. Directed by daddy Roshan and starring son Hrithik, expectations are sky-high from Krrish.

Dhoom 2
Director:
Sanjay Gadhvi
Producer:
Yashraj Films
Cast:
Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Rimi Sen
Must See reason:
With its bikes, hunks, sexy ladies and rocking music, Dhoom was a hit film formula. And in the tradition of the bond capers that it's tried to emulate, this is the sequel. Hrithik and Aishwarya's entry and the turn of events thereof will be rocking, wethinks.

God Tussi Great Ho
Director:
Rummi Jaffrey
Producer:
Afzal Khan
Cast:
Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Rukhsar, Anupam Kher
Must See reason:
Directed by Rummi Jaffrey, this flick, as the title suggests, will go down well with the adults and children alike. Promising wholesome entertainment, this Amitabh-Salman starrer is all set to impress.

Darna Zaroori Hai
Director(s):
J.D. Chakravarthi, Manish Gupta, Rohit Jugraj, Sajid Khan, Jijy Philip, Prawal Raman, Vivek Shah,
Ram Gopal Varma
Producer:
Ram Gopal Varma
Cast:
Amitabh Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Ritesh Deshmukh, Makrand Deshpande, Randeep Hooda, Anil Kapoor, Isha Koppikar, Arjun Rampal, Mallika Sherawat
Suniel Shetty
Must See reason:
Darna Zaroori Hai is the sequel of the very popular Darna Mana Hai. It's a film that tells several stories that come together as one at the end of it all. Ram Gopal Varma known for his horror flicks, promises this to be yet another 'chilling' experience.

Phir Hera Pheri
Director:
Neeraj Vohra
Producer:
Firoz Nadiadwala
Cast:
Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Bipasha Basu
Must See reason:
This is the sequel to the Bollywood hit Hera Pheri directed by Priyadarsan. However, Neeraj Vohra and not Priyadarsan is directing this one. The reason being that Priyan wasn't interested in making the sequel as he was of the opinion that it wouldn't work.

Chingari
Director:
Kalpana Lajmi
Producer:
Kalpana Lajmi, Vikas Sahani
Cast:
Sushmita Sen, Mithun Chakraborty, Anuj Sawhney, Ila Arun
Must See reason:
Kalpana Lajmi has always prided herself in making intelligent films and Chingari, she assures us, will be no different. This film sees Sushmita Sen play the title role of a bar dancer. Now that's something interesting.

Salaam e Ishq: A Tribute to Love
Director:
Nikhil Advani
Producer:
Sunil Manchanda, Mukesh Talreja
Cast:
Salman Khan, Sonali Bendre, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, Ayesha Takia, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Govinda, Sohail Khan
Must See reason:
After Kal Ho Naa Ho, this is Nikhil Advani's next venture. Besides the director, the impressive list of actors in the movie will make it a crowd-puller.

Deodhar Gandhi
Director:
Guddu Dhanoa
Cast:
Sunny Deol, Priyanka Chopra
Must See reason:
It has been some time since we saw Sunny Deol in action, and this film is going to give us just that.

Taxi No. 9211
Director:
Milan Luthria
Producer:
Ramesh Sippy
Cast:
John Abraham, Nana Patekar, Sameera Reddy
Must See reason: Backed by the maker of the original Sholay, Ramesh Sippy, Taxi 9211 is definitely a much awaited film. Milan Luthria, who has also directed Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt in the most recent Deewar promises this to be a 'never seen before' flick.

Milenge Milenge
Director:
Satish Kaushik
Producer:
Boney Kapoor
Cast:
Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Aarti Chhabria, Delnaaz Paul, Satish Shah
Must See reason:
Satish Kaushik, known for his hilarious comedy, promises some mind-boggling entertainment with this Shahid-Kareena starrer. Backed by a responsible producer like Boney Kapoor is one more reason why this motion picture would fall in to the category of the promising films of 2006.

36 China Town
Director:
Abbas-Mastan
Producer:
Subhash Ghai
Cast:
Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Isha Koppikar, Johnny Lever, Upen Patel, Paresh Rawal, Payal Rohatgi
Must See reason:
It's a Subhash Ghai banner directed by the talented director duo Abbas-Mastan. Getting on screen the off-screen romantic pair – Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor – along with other talented actors like Akshaye Khanna and Ishaa Koppikar, this flick is much awaited. Model Upen Patel also makes his debut with Chinatown. It'll be interesting to see how he does on the silver screen.

Chamki
Director:
Shyam Benegal
Producer:
Pravesh Sippy, Sheetal Vinod Talwar
Cast:
Urmila Matondkar, Jimmy Shergill
Must See reason:
It's a Shyam Benegal film. After his latest release based on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, it's not wrong to expect another extra-ordinary film from Benegal.

Corporate
Director:
Madhur Bhandarkar
Producer:
Sahara One Motion Pictures
Cast:
Bipasha Basu, Kay Kay Menon
Must See reason:
After realistic films like Chandni Bar, Satta and Page 3, Madhur will release yet another realistic film – Corporate – that deals with the politics of the corporate world. With hard-hitting performers like Bipasha Basu and Kay Kay Menon, this one is touted to be yet another hard-hitting film from Madhur's stable.

Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye
Director:
Raj Kanwar
Producer:
Raj Kanwar, Bhushan & Kishan Kumar
Cast:
Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif
Must See reason:
Going by all other Raj Kanwar films, this one, too, will be an all-out entertainer having all the ingredients of a typical Bollywood film. Also with Akshay Kumar bettering his performance with every film and with two sexy damsels Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif, this movie, we hope, will be a rocker.

Janeman
Director:
Shirish Kunder
Producer:
Sajid Nadiadwala
Cast:
Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Preity Zinta, Anupam Kher, Tom DiNardo
Must See reason:
The high point of this flick is not only its protagonist – Salman Khan – but also director Shirish Kunder. This is Shirish's directorial debut. With wife Farah Khan having scored well in her directorial venture Main Hoon Na..., hubby Shirish we guess will be putting his best foot forward and aiming for similar success at the BO.

Jhansi Ki Rani
Director:
Ketan Mehta
Cast:
Aishwarya Rai
Must See reason:
This will be Ketan Mehta's next film after the Aamir Khan-starrer, The Rising – the first of a trilogy. Titled Jhansi Ki Rani, he has confirmed Aishwarya Rai to play the lead role. However, with the film having been announced only recently, one wonders whether this one will see the light of day this year.

Khatta Meetha
Director:
Priyadarsan
Cast:
Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Isha Sharvani, Neha Dhupia, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav
Must See reason:
After hits like Hera Pheri, Hungama and Hulchul under his belt, Priyadarsan's all set to tickle our funny bone once again with Khatta Meetha. With a competent star-cast comprising of Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor in the lead, this one will be one Khatta-meetha experience. Let's hope.

Mixed Doubles
Director:
Rajat Kapoor
Producer:
Sunil Doshi
Cast:
Konkona Sen Sharma, Naseeruddin Shah, Ranvir Shorey, Koel Purie, Rajat Kapoor,
Naseeruddin Shah
Must See reason:
Rajat Kapoor won the National Award for his film Raghu Romeo that also went on to win the Best Film award at the MAMI Film Festival. Let's hope Mixed Doubles has something interesting and different to offer, too.

The Namesake
Director:
Mira Nair
Producer:
Lydia Dean Pilcher, Mira nair, Lori Keith Douglas
Cast:
Tabu, Irfan Khan, Kal Penn, Zuleikha Robinson
Must See reason:
The Namesake is based on the best-selling novel of the same title authored by Jhumpa Lahiri. Directed by renowned filmmaker Mira Nair, this one will be a film to watch out for. We hear that Jhumpa Lahiri herself does a cameo in this one. Also, we'll see Tabu on the silver screen after a very long time.

Pyare Mohan
Director:
Indra Kumar
Producer:
Indra Kumar, Ashok Thakeria
Cast:
Vivek Oberoi, Fardeen Khan, Sajid Khan, Boman Irani, Esha Deol, Amrita Rao
Must See reason:
After Masti, this film we believe will be another laugh riot from Indra Kumar. Also, Vivek and Fardeen have proved their comic timings in Masti and Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega respectively. The two actors will come together for the first time in this one.

Saamna
Director:
Rajkumar Santoshi
Producer:
Keshu Ramsay
Cast:
Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Mahima Chaudhry, Ritesh Deshmukh, Urmila Matondkar
Must See reason:
A Rajkumar Santoshi is always one to look forward to. So why should Saamna be an exception, especially with talents like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar forming the cast.

Umrao Jaan
Director:
J.P. Dutta
Producer:
J.P. Dutta
Cast:
Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Divya Dutta, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Puru Rajkumar
Must See reason:
Directed by J.P. Dutta, this film has Aishwarya Rai in the title role. Also, as it is a re-make of the classic, it'll be interesting to see how J.P. has treated the subject matter. The flick also stars talents like Abhishek Bachchan , Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Divya Dutta, Shabana Azmi...

Yun Hota To Kya Hota

Naseeruddin Shah
Producer:
Shabbir Boxwala

Konkona Sen Sharma, Irfan Khan, Ayesha Takia, Karan Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Saroj Khan, Ratna Pathak, Boman Irani, Jimmy Shergill
Must See reason:
It is actor Naseeruddin Shah's directorial venture and boasts of a talented star cast. Choreographer Saroj Khan also acts in this film.
