Looking at 2006
By MIO Team

You must have enjoyed a galaxy of films of all variety at the box office this year! Some of the films managed to grab your attention, some made you tickle with laughter, some wipe your tears, some made you roll with fun while many left you thinking, angry and agitated for the bakwas they turned to be. Overall this was what 2005 had in store for you. As the year ends and we get ready to welcome another new year, from the team of MIO we wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and hope that you'll also enjoy the gallery of films that is most expected to turn the box office into gold!

Rang De Basanti
After 'Mangal Pandey' failed this year, it's time to be optimistic and look forward to the next release of Aamir Khan. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and produced by UTV, the cast also includes Soha Ali Khan, Waheeda Rehman, Om Puri, Kiron Kher, Madhavan, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and Anupam Kher. Boasting of a trend setting story and acclaiming to be a must see for the youths, Aamir Khan will hit the month of January with a bang.

Family
With the pair of Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar raking moolah at the box office this year with 'Waqt', we wait for the fantastic treat once again next year with 'Family'. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced jointly by Amitabh Bachchan and Keshu Ramsay, the film will launch Aryeman, son of Keshu. After 'Sarkar', Amitabh Bachchan can be caught playing another powerful and significant role. Watch out for this action-packed flick!

Munnabhai Meets Mahatma
'Munnabhai MBBS' did awesome business at the box office, and so it doesn't come as a surprise when producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra decided to come out with a sequel as well. The film will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani and will cast Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani akin to the original one. Only the lead female role has been replaced with Vidya Balan. 2006 will also have its share of hilarious time, that's for sure.

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna
This happens to be the most awaited biggie of next year. To be directed by the brilliant Karan Johar after five years under his Dharma Productions, the film has frontline actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Urmila Matondkar, Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal and Kiron Kher. You can bet on this film!

Don
A very innovative move by director Farhan Akhtar is to come out with the remake of the original blockbuster 'Don'. The film will be produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and will have a stellar star cast comprising Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Isha Koppikar, Mallika Sherawat. Watch SRK retaking Bachchan and Priyanka getting to the skin of Zeenat Aman.

Krrish
Rakesh Roshan is all set to come out with his magnificently produced and directed 'Krrish', the sequel of his blockbuster 'Koi Mil Gaya'. The film is expected to be a rocking one with the making of the film already hitting the headlines. Playing the lead in the film are Rekha, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sharat Saxena, Puneet Issar, Naseeruddin Shah and in Preity Zinta special appearance. Expectations are sky-high!

Dhoom 2
Another sequel to set the screen on fire! 'Dhoom' was a big hit with all the elements going to its favor and Yashraj Films wants to taste success once again with the sequel as well. To be directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, the star cast includes Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Bipasha Basu and Rimi Senl. Get set to rock!

Phir Hera Pheri
With comedy ruling the roost this year, there will be more stomach tickling ones next year. Neeraj Vohra and Firoz Nadiadwala are here with the sequel of the super successful 'Hera Pheri' with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal once again in major role accompanied by the dusky beauty Bipasha Basu.

36 China Town
Another film out of the closet of Mukta Arts Banner to be directed by director duo Abbas-Mastan. The film brings the real life pair Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor to the screen once again after 'Fida'. Other stars in the film include Akshaye Khanna, Isha Koppikar, Johnny Lever, Upen Patel, Paresh Rawal and Payal Rohatgi. This is the debut film of Upen Patel and is also one of the big films to release next year.

Corporate
Madhur Bhandarkar came out with 'Page 3' this year and wowed all. Completing his trilogy is 'Corporate' produced by Sahara One Motion Pictures. The film has in the lead Bipasha Basu and Kay Kay Menon. This will be another hard-hitting film where Madhur will take on the corporate world.

Janeman
Shirish Kunder makes his directorial debut in this Sajid Nadiadwala's film with an awesome star cast comprising Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Preity Zinta and Anupam Kher. The film is another biggie to hit the screen in 2006.

Well the list of biggies releasing next year was really long, and so we had to cut it short with the selective few that are sure to rock and are the 'must-sees'!
