Hey guys,
Ranjana has given me a mammoth task, ranjana wanted me to write something based on 'Karan's' life, the same karan from Mahabharata (IMAGINE)!!! Well, the bug bit me and I was dead!!! So, here I am presenting you with a modernized version of my favorite epic. This will more focus on Karan and his life rather than pandavas and kauravas?a completely Karan-biased story!!! Bani will be the surprise packet!!! You will love the new improved fiery draupadi?Draupadi and karan will have a romantic angle, it is a truth, the true epic explains a beautiful metaphorical relationship between them, which many don't know, I can't explain it, it will take countless fanfics?
It is not a direct lift but is loosely inspired by the epic story!!!!
Here, Lord Krishna is the conscience of each individual; person who follows it will prevail, person who doesn't will loose?Krishna is a part of everybody's soul, and everything, sajiva, ajiva, is nothing but Krishna?
This is completely experimental; I am wading in new waters, so bear with my untimely updates!!!!
Comments are strictly expected!!! (- :(-:(-:(-:(-:(-:
NOTE: Don't expect Mahabharata retold, I have only adapted it, with new twists and turns with Karan as the main protagonist played by Jai Walia of course. The beautiful part of Mahabharata is it is open to interpretation and has so many stories intervened into one, I have just borrowed a thread from it.
ENJOY!!!!!

A Losing Proposition?
"Kis mausam ka kaunsa jhonka tha?jo deewar par latki tasveer ko tircha kar gaya?"
PART 1
It opened slow and sluggish, patiently building up a scene and behind it a situation; the precise, serene unexpressed thoughts, accumulating weight and meaning clause by clause, it got over quickly like a camera shutter? ?
The board room was claustrophobic, the atmosphere tensing up?the old man seated on the chair of the highest authority gave a disapproving look at the highly bickering scene unfolding in front of him?his middle-aged secretary tried to calm the boisterously arguing men in power suites?
"I said enough?" came the impacting voice of the old man, Vikram Pratap Raizada?the pillar and foundation of Raizada Constructions, the septuagenarian man, who still commanded respect and power?an icon, looked upto by one and all?
The sonorous men fell silent all of a sudden?Ranveer Raizada gave an appalling look at his grandfather? he fiddled with his Pierre Cardin pen, the silver Rolex what shinning on his wrist, a rosary of rudraksh wound around his other hand?
"Gentlemen, this has been the most depressing moment of my life, I could never imagine you people quarrelling like school kids?highly ludicrous behavior?" he said clasping his palms, his elbows resting on the table? a few faces hung, ranveer looked unperturbed?
"As of now the meeting has been dismissed?" Vikram Raizada got up and left the board room?everybody got up as he left; ranveer didn't?still twiddling with his pen?he seemed to be in deep thoughts, he needed somebody, a highly intellectual, sharp brain?a weapon?a lethal weapon?
Ranveer lifted his head up to see his opponent, who was coincidentally his cousin brother, Arjun Raizada?arjun left giving a brief feisty glance towards ranveer?

The Raizadas were an extremely elite family, their ancestors belonged to the royal families of Rajasthan?a hierarchical joint family tied down to live together, now settled in Mumbai since generations?it was Vikram Pratap Raizada's bold endeavor to step out of the dusty, majestic forts of Ranthambore and start a business, he left no stone unturned to make it reach the pinnacle of success, and the top most position where it stood now, tall and proud?his brother Samar Pratap Raizada took active part in the business, due to his fierce ambition Vikram was so busy with work that age passed by and he didn't marry, he didn't regret it either, he himself believed that he was incapable of loving a person, mainly because of his judgmental and over-bearing attitude, well that was the reason he told the world?instead he devoted his time to work?Samar got married and had two children, elder Virat Raizada and younger Vikranth Raizada? After an untimely and sudden death of Samar and his wife in an accident, the responsibility of holding the family together fell on Vikram Raizada, it was an irony that a man who ran away from emotional ties and family bonds had to take care of a family, it was a question destiny was posing in front of him again and again, once when his father died and was again when his brother died?he had no choice but to accept the fate? but he knew it was nothing but a losing proposition?

"I don't understand this generation Uday?what has happened to this breed?" Vikram sighed as he walked towards his car?his wooden walking stick ticking on the tiled floor making a sweet sound?he waved his hand in the air gesturing the staff to sit down as they had stood up, upon seeing him?
"Sir, there are still young, hot-blooded?" uday commented, Uday Walia was Vikram Raizada's secretary, confident and his most trusted man?he had been working in the company since 30 years? ?
"Uday, today's generation, I can't understand them, we were so different?"
"Yes, sir?" uday agreed, today's generation was different, business meant purely business and ethics had become a catachresis?
"I never thought my children would grow up to become like this?" Vikram shook his head?
"Sir, with experience they will learn?" uday was the ever-optimistic self?
"You saw the disinterested look ranveer gave?"
"He is a bit ill-tempered and stubborn but he is a good tactician?just like you?" uday chuckled; Vikram had been similar during his yesteryears?
"But I was not so inhuman?uday?how can he build a hotel on a land which has been allotted for the poor?"
"Sir, the government has not given the approval?"
"Big deal?Uday, a lump sum amount and the next day you get the papers, and it won't be any difficult for Ranveer, he has network?"
"Probably Arjun will work out something?"
"I wish?but ranveer is too shrewd?and arjun principled?"
Vikram sat in his car, uday sat in the front, they drove away?

A young man stood at a distance waiting for his bus, watching the car speed away amidst the dense cloud of dust it uprooted?he looked above to the tall building which stood in front of him?everyday while waiting for his bus he stood watching the office of Raizada Constructions, his dream, he knew his place was somewhere behind the tilted glass window panes of the wondrous office?but he needed an opportunity? just one chance probably?he was never a believer of luck, he thought a man's deeds defined his fate, but somewhere down he knew every man came to earth with his destiny intact, it was upto him to find his destiny, some succeeded, some didn't?he knew he had found his destiny, but the path was still unknown? ?his thoughts were disturbed by a clattering din, he looked down to see a couple of coins jumping and colliding with each other, falling back into a steel shallow cusp?a swarthy, malnutritioned boy stood before him begging, his bony hands spread out?he checked his wallet, he didn't have any change, a few hundreds, then he took out his lunch box from his bag which his mother had lovingly made for him and emptied its contents into the boys bowl?the boy greedily looked at it and ran away saying thank you to the man, Jai Walia, the only son of Uday Walia? ?

Virat Raizada threw the morsels of grains to the pigeons; the fresh evening air infused some energy into him, he wheeled his wheelchair a little further, the pigeons fluttered their wings and hopped hither and thither?
"Aap yahaan hain?main kahaan kahaan dhoondh rahin thi aapko?" his wife shobha said as she walked into the manicured green garden?she kept the tray on the table?
"Lijiye juice?aur aapki dawa?" she handed him a glass of freshly prepared orange juice?virat mutely took it form her hand?
"Tum thak nahin jaati ho shobha?" he asked banally?
"Aap kya keh rahen hain?" she asked confused at what he was implying?
"Meri dekhbhal karte karte?ek cheez bhi main khud se nahin kar sakta?" he said in an emotionless tone?shobha heaved a sigh?it was natural for any person to feel frustrated and depressed, when you can't do anything without a second person's help?loosing one's legs in an almost fatal accident is traumatic? it was almost a decade ago, but she knew the wounds were yet to fill up?she went near him?kneeling down, she faced him?his eyes were fixed on the pigeons flying independently ?she caressed his hand?
"Apni pati ki dekhbhal karne se main kyun thak jaongi, aur faise bhi aapne mujhe itna sab kuch diya hain, ab meri baari hain samajh lijiye?"
"Main kuch bhi nahin de paaya tumhe?" he said looking at her?
"Aap aisa kyun sochte hain, sabse keemti cheez toh dee hain aapne, humare beta, Ranveer, itna acha parivaar?aur kya chahiye?" shobha smiled genuinely, virat's gloomy face stretched into a smile?he had the best wife possible?and he couldn't thank god enough for bringing her into his life?
"Tum bohot achi ho?" he said?pressing her palm?
"Jaanti hoon?" shobha said and went behind him, steering the wheel chair?virat chuckled? ?

"Raveer, why just you don't understand?we can't build a hotel there?" arjun argued, trying to instill some reasoning inside ranveer's head?
"Why do you think with your heart Arjun, its business we are talking about?the plot is the prime locality, and why do you want it to go the poor slum dwellers?" ranveer argued?
"That land has been allotted by the government to build houses for the poor people?"
"So what!!! I can get the papers; it will take some time, that's it?" ranveer said flatly?
"I am not in this Ranveer?"
"Who wants you anyway brother?" ranveer sneered?
"If you have forgotten, Ranveer I have an equal share and standing in this office?as you do?"
"Whatever dearest brother?the hotel is going to be built that's it?" ranveer said firmly and walked out?Arjun gave a disapproving nod?he wouldn't let the lives of the innocent be ruined because of ranveer's over-ambitions, it was morally wrong and his principles didn't permit him?but he needed to find out a solution?very soon?

"Jee, woh zameen ka kya hua?"
"Minister sahib, aap hi ka toh bharosa, hain papers milne dijiye, aapka samaan bhi pahunch jaayega?"
"Jee, jaldi karwaiye?kaam bhi shuru karna hain?"
"Jee, theek hain, rakhta hoon?"
Ranveer disconnected the phone; it would take some more time?he knew it was a difficult task but he was determined to get it done?and the sooner it was over, the better, he didn't want Arjun to poke his nose into his project? ?
