THE BREAK UP

Kehete hain,

Pyaar karma aasan hain par usse nibhana utnahi mushkil.

Jai Walia -23 year old,hot and handsome,very ambitious,currently busy in taking over his dad's mammoth business"the walia group of industries".he practically talks,eats,drinks and sleeps workand only work.

Bani dixit -23 year old,upcoming fashion designer,ver talented,sweet and simple,pretty.

PROLOGUE

Jai and bani were class-mates in 11 and 12^th standards.they were best friends.after their 12^th they started dating and are still together and very much in love.their respective families are also happy about it.

The story oversees their relationship when their priorities change in life.the story analyses what happens when they have to choose between their love and ambition.

A problem which many face today.

Hope you all like it. its a short story and will be completed in 5-6 parts.

PART 1

25^th September 2007

Jai's study:

Bani: jai!jai!come on.bahaar mausam kitna acha hain.come lets go out for a drive.kitna time hogaya hum drive par nehi gaye.

Jai: ummm.

B: jai!get up lets go.

J: bani.no not today.i am very busy.i have a presentation tomorrow.please bani.

B (acidly): fine then!donot come.waise bhi aaj kal mereliye tumhare paas waqt kahan hota hain.

J: listen bani.

Befor he could say or do anything bani had already left his study and the only sound which echoed in his study was the loud banging of the door.

J (muttering to himself): oh god!bani behaves like a child at times. Ab usko mannana padega.

Thinking so he buries himself in the file.

Next day evening 7.30 p.m.

Bani's house.

Ding dong.

Bani opens the door and sees a smiling jai with a bunch of white lilies in his hand.

B: get lost jai.

J: I am sorry dear.well today we are having dinner together.okay.

B (childishly): pakka.i will make the dinner.

J: okay baba.

B (mischievously): your punishment

J (puzzled): what punishment!!

B: do sit-ups 50 times holding your ears.

J (vehemently): what rubbish!i am not doing any sit-ups.

B: fine then, get out jai walia.

J (sulking): fine.

Jai started doing the sit-ups sulking like a school kid.

B (laughingly): 1,2,3,4……10.okay fine that's enough for today.

J: I will kill you.you are such a devil bani.

B: that I am.

Bani finished preparing dinner.just then jai's mobile rang.

J: hello! Ya okay I am coming.

B: bani something important has come up. I have to go dear.

B: jai!

Before she could complete he had already left.though she was angry but she was happy that atleast they could spend sometime together after so long.

PART 2

2 days late, 27th September 2007.

It was bani's birthday.bani was desperately waiting for jai's call.she checked her phone a zillion times to see if there was any missed call or message but in vain.
Practically the whole world called bani to wish her,her parents,her friends, cousins except jai who meant the world for her.
Bani was really upset and was sobbing like a child.and she practically cried herself to sleep on the couch itself.
Next morning….
The incessant ringing of the door bell waked bani from her deep slumber. she reluctantly opened the door to find jai smiling at her.
Bani just gave him a stare and went inside.
Jai got really confused and worried seeing her tear strained face and followed her swiftly.
J: what happened bani.apna kya haal bana rakha hain.why are u so upset dear?
B (sarcastically): upset.no jai I am not at all upset. I am very happy,over the moon.
J: whats wrong bani. Why are u speaking like that?
B: oh! Shut up jai.you know what was yesterday?
J: what?
B: here you go.yesterday was my birthday and Practically the whole world called me to wish me except you who means the world to me.i..i just donot want to talk to you jai.just leave me alone.
J (apologetically): dam .i … I am so sorry bani.i was just so busy that I forgot your birthday.i am sorry. I will make it for you.come get ready we will go out.i will spend the entire day with you.
B (angrily): thanx so much for the offer Mr.Walia but I am not interested.get lost jai.i donot even want to see your face.
J: bani listen.
B (shouted):get out Mr.Walia.
Jai was literally taken aback with the sudden outburst.he thought it was best to leave her as she was very upset.probably after a couple of days she will become fine,thinking so he mumbled a sorry and left the house.

PART 3

4 days later.

4 days, 4 long days, jai was desperately trying to contact bani but there was no clue.he called her countless times,smsed her but got reply to none.he even went to bani's house,called up her friends but no result.
The knock on his study door brought him back from his revive.

J (exclaimed almost jumping from his seat): bani!! Where have you been. I have been searching you for the past 4 days god dammit.
He was about to hug her whe she stopped him.
J (surprisingly): bani!
B (in a calm and composed way): I went to pune jai.i had a meeting with a client.jai we need to talk.
Jai was really taken aback by the aloofness in her voice.he was trying to comprehend but her expressive eyes gave away nothing.the eyes which always had a twinkle were now as blank as a white sheet.
Dismissing the thoughts he said
J: sure bani,sit.
B: its okay jai,heaving a deep sigh she continued
B: jai its over now,our love,our relationship everything.
Jai was too stunned to reply.
B: I am leaving for London tomorrow, forever.
J: but bani I am sorry I forgot your birth……
Befor he could continue bani interrupted
B: its ….. its not about you forgetting my birthday jai.
J: then why bani.
B: our relationship is going nowhere jai.it has changed jai.we have been together for the past 6 years.i feel as if the love , the understanding have all suddenly disappeared jai.the long drives, the dinners, your constant teasing,I miss that jai.today we have become so busy that we hardly get time for each other.when I want to go out you are busy or when you come I am busy.
Do you remember the last time we shared any physical contact.forget about a kiss,do you remember hugging and even standing side by side.i don't jai.
It just can't continue like this jai.our priorities have changed.probably we should move on.we have to make a CHOICE jai.
It took jai some time to sink in but deep down he knew bani was right.off-late he hardly gave time to bani which he hated to admit.
J: I guess you are right bani.i know I have been busy and have neglected you but I will always love you bani.
Bani had tears I her eyes which were threatening to trickle down her rosy cheecks anytime.
B: I love you too jai and I will never forget these six years.all the best jai.
J (chokingly): ya!same to u and take care.
B: you to.
Bani came forward and placed a slight peck on his lips.
B (crying): bye!!!
J: bye!!!
That night jai and bani cried their heart out.and they knew living without each other would be hell,but they had to move on.



P.S.:quite depressing but what to do the story progresses like this.

i did not want to make it over dramatic so thats why i kept the reaction of jai and bani subtle.
