I couldnt agree more with all of the above comments. Another thing I notice among people is their inability to recognize different types of beauty. When I first began watching this show, I could not understand how Ragini was supposed to be "ugly." I found her cute and endearing. And even now on the show, when Vasu mentioned "I wanted to find you a princess" it was terribly annoying because Ragini is a princess. Just dont understand how something as simple as skin pigmentation has become such a huge issue in society.

I've been watching Bidaai right from Day 1 n the soap seems to be fresh n pretty promising...👏 👏 👏...the Actors though new have shown such marked improvement over the Episodes n the storyline does make an interesting watch! 👍🏼..Keep up the good work guys! 😊

...n for the underlying message that the soap is trying to send across...well, its really sad that some sections of the society still tend to discriminate on the basis of colour.....even within the family...truly hope such people change their misconceptions n perceptions and understand that its not colour of the skin, but character that makes a human more valuable!

Sadly,There exists something called as hypocrisy in the society... Even today discrimination is made in terms of color... Its indeed mediocre but a truth

The show has come along way... Well written.scripted, performed scenes makes the viewers hook... The show's success reason is the strong content and hope it continues to go in such a way always....

Very Interesting Topic indeed!!

Hey!
I must say, this is something which has been on my mind since day one of this serial. I remember how angry I got when Ragni was let down, and I got angry at the whole concept of "showing" her to the men, she is not a dog dammit. Sorry, but the process seems so demeaning to women. First off, I find it very ignorant when South Asian people value lighter skin tones, considering that the majority of their population is far from light skinned, second of all, how hypocritical of such a society who values truth, power, bravery, courage, love, respect ect. ect to put such esteem in skin color. Chi.
I was born and brought up here, and my parents are both from Bangladesh, but they have never once said anything about skin color, they have always taught me to be a good person, actions speak louder, but I suppose people here are more liberal with such an issue. Also, we don't worry about arranged marriages down here, either, not in my family at least. Both my parents find it demeaning and its unfair to both the girl and the guy.
Living here, there is also the concept of size zero and what not, I suppose no matter where you are, us women will always be subjugated to something dealing with our physical appearance or lack there of. I only wish that people would stop being so ignorant and open their minds, because in the end, god doesn't even look at skin tone, but who you are as a person and what you did in life.

The hypocrisy exists in all societies.....South Asian socieities aren't the only ones that can be singled out. In western countries, ppl are insanely obsessed with getting tans.....such are the ironies that exist in general.
As for arranged marriages......the concept has evolved....they are not necessarily about 'showing off girls as if they are 'dogs'"......it varies from culture to culture and family to family...but in general, the arranged marriages taking place today seem to be more about ppl just meeting each other and then deciding how to take things from there....no body is forced to marry anyone....the girl has her own say.
