Intersting topic Ananya.. :) Umm.. The book really concentrates on Bells and how s he felt really devasted after Edward left her.. But like you said, she had Jake.. But still it must have been hard for her to go through all that in the beginning. And even when she had Jake, that was to get something else to think about, and not to sort of share her pain.. So I don't know if it would do her any good if she's stayed like that for much longer.. 😔
Edward on the other hand had allways been alone (he had his family but still, they're all couples).. I bet Alice must've tried to console him in a way, but even with a mindreading sister, it's not allways that easy to share everything and feel better! And when he finally fell in love after being alone for a decade it has to be really hard to just leave her..
The conclusion: the question made me more confused.. 😆 never really thought about it like that before, allways just accepted they both went through a hell.. But (being affected by the POV in the book probably) I think Bells had it worse, cause she had no reason for why Edward left her, and never got to see him again.. But Edward knew (or thought) it would be best for both of them.. And still kept watching her from far.. :S
