ACTOR AND SINGER AMIT TANDONS COLOURFUL HOUSE FORMS THE PERFECT RETREAT FOR THE COUPLE, DISCOVERS PURNIMA GOSWAMI SHARMA

The aesthetically designed home of actor and singer Amit Tandon in Oshiwara is colourful and bright. I consider it an achievement that I own a lovely home in Mumbai, says Amit, about his two-bedroom residence in the plush building.
Raised in the USA, Amit has now made Mumbai his home. His building in Oshiwara has a gym, which he uses often, besides a squash court and a swimming pool. This area is well connected to Malad as well as Andheri and its not as crowded as Lokhandawla, says the artist.
Each and every room has a different colour theme, with one wall in each room having a bright colour, giving an invigorating and fresh look to the entire apartment. Amit, however, admits that his apartment wasnt as neat as it now is. My dadi had come down from the USA and she helped me to do the interiors initially and later, after I got married, my wife Ruby did up the place, he explains.
The living room has been done up in soothing beige colours with one wall textured in tangy orange colour. The room is furnished with huge, sleek leather sofas from Durian and low leather chairs of beige colour which Amit had custom-made. A dinning table of glass and orange leather chairs adds a dash of cheerfulness to the room, with a huge mirror near the dining area giving a hint of spaciousness. The shelves near the living room window are neatly stacked with a huge collection of CDs and DVDs. Lovely mosaic lamps from Tresorie near the window, along with accent lights, make the room visually appealing.
Bright colorful Ganeshas in different postures from Satgurus fill the house. Even the lights have Ganpati motifs on them. The wall near the dining room has a framed picture of the Golden Temple of Amritsar. The living room has a huge Saibaba statute
on a tall pedestal. I have immense faith in the supreme power, says the singer, who shot to fame with Indian Idol and went on to act in several TV serials. I feel it has bestowed me with good luck, adds Amit who is now on the reality show Zara Naach Ke Dikha and is also set to release a music album.
The couples bedroom is done up in bright orange and reddish colour. I wanted my bedroom to be warm, cozy and welcoming, explains Amit. The wardrobe has been specially designed with glass, which has a crushed effect. The bedroom also has a dressing table with a huge stocking space for perfumes, which Amit loves to collect. There is also a bookshelf in the room as the couple is fond of reading. The bedroom is Amit and Rubys favorite room of the house. Its the perfect place to unwind, he says.
The guest room is in fresh green and yellow colour. Both the bedrooms have low windows for seating space and concealed storage beneath the windows.
Various colours and lighting have been interestingly combined to make Amits home a comfortable, soothing and a beautiful retreat. Earlier, it was more like a bachelors pad. Now, its a proper home, says Amit.
