Swetha and Nithya visit Uma. Nithya instigates Uma to report to the Human Rights Commission. She asks if Ranjini knew about Arun before. Uma says Ranjini never met Arun as everytime they were to meet, something always cropped up. Nithya tells Uma not to tell the HRC anything about Ranjini not knowing about Arun being her boyfriend but just to tell them that Ranjini misused her position as a customs officer and shot him to death. Swetha feels uneasy about the whole conversation and wants to leave and asks Nithya to follow her. Outside the house, Swetha scolds Nithiya for being so selfish and trying to use her ego war with Ranjini in this matter. Nithiya swears to herself that she will make Ranjini pay.

Ranjini is met by a fellow officer (Umapathi in Vasantham) who tells Ranjini that there will be a panel hearing and wants her to admit that she was wrong in shooting Arun. He tells her to tell them that she was overcome with emotion and shot him. The other officer (the funny guy) also tells her to do the same. The office (Umapathi) tells Ramjini that he had just spoken to their boss Ravichandran about the case but he had said he is unable to do anything to defend her.

Ranjini thinks. A man comes there and asks if Ranjini remembers him but Ranjini says no. The man introduces hinself as a former employee of the Customs Department who had handed Ranjini her appointment letter. He tells her that he is very proud of her deed, ie. shooting Arun. He explains that he has no personal animosity or quarrel with Arun but Arun was a drug dealer and deserved to die. He explains that his daughter who was in college had become a drug addict and one day when she went to get her fix, was raped by four guys. His daughter then committed suicide. It was then he had taken VRS and had gone from college to college and tried to tell the students not to become addited to drugs but he had been stamped as a madman. He says he is not worried about all that. He also tells her that he saw the news in the papers and had come there to congratulate her. He warns her that she may even loose her job because of this and tells her that he is willing to take care of her as his own daughter and leaves. The two officers just walk away not saying anything. Ranjini thinks and feels that she did not do anything wrong.

Arun's boss talks to another man about Arun's death nd wants to know who had received his body. The man tells her that Uma had received Arun's body and done the final rites. The boss asks if Arun died ont he spot or at the hospital and if he had told the police anything. The man tells his boss that Arun died on the spot and did not tell anything before he died. The boss then asks his man to keep an eye on Uma. He also wants them to collect any evidence against Ranjini and to keep an eye on her. He was to make sure that Ranjini doesn't go back to her duties as a customs officer.

Ranjini goes to see her boss who is having breakfast. He tells her to be ready for the panel hearing that evening. He tells her that she should apologize to them and make them understand that it was all a mistake. Ranjini tells him she would not do that because she di nothing wrong. She tells her boss about the ex-employees visit and that she feels that she had done a service to the community. She says she is willing to face anythings thrown at her. Ravichandran just looks at her.

Uma meets with an officer at the HRC and tells her that Ranjini had misused her power and killed her fiance on the eve of her wedding. The officer asks if her fiance was a wanted man, Uma tells her that he is not and the only thing he did was to love her. She tells her that her mother did not like Arun and had instigated Ranjini to kill him. The office promises to look into the matter and if Ranjini had indeed misused her power she will be punished.THODARUM
