Two comedy films and a hard-hitting drama are releasing on Friday.
If you haven't yet been sated by the rib ticklers that Bollywood has churned out over the last few weeks, this Friday offers something new and innovative.
For, hitting the silver screen will be Antara Mali's 'Mr Ya Miss' and Sujoy Ghosh's 'Home Delivery'.
Mr. Ya Miss is based on a subject that hasn't yet been tried in Hindi cinema. The movie, starring Antara Mali , Ritesh Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani , tells the story of a man who is reborn as a woman after his death.
Aftab plays a womanizer who flirts with many girls at the same time. One day, one of his girlfriends hits him hard and he dies. The Gods send him back to the earth in a woman's body. Antara plays the man-in-a-woman's-body character. Ritesh plays a guy who falls for Antara.
The movie, produced by Ram Gopal Varma's Factory, marks the directorial debut of Antara Mali.
Competing with 'Mr Ya Miss' will be Home Delivery that has Vivek Oberoi , Ayesha Takia , Mahima Chaudhary and Boman Irani in main roles.
The film has Vivek playing a column writer, popularly known as gyan guru because of the gyan that he imparts. Ayesha Takia plays his fiance. Boman Irani plays a pizza delivery man and Mahima plays an actress going out of her prime.
Vivek's character in the movie is a cynic who believes that he has shaped his life solely out of his hard work. But things begin to get chaotic for him after he gets a big scriptwriting project for a Karan Johar movie. He also gets a chance to date Mahima, his childhood fantasy. Things spin out of this gyan guru's control until a simple pizza delivery man gives him the gyan of life.
If comedies don't enthuse you this Friday, then there is hard-hitting drama Apaharan, featuring Ajay Devgan , Bipasha Basu and Nana Patekar .
Apaharan , directed by Prakash Jha, is based on kidnappings in Bihar.
The movie has Devgan playing a man burdened by the expectations of his highly principled and self-righteous social activist father. Bipasha plays a girl who loves Ajay and wants to be his moral support. Nana Patekar plays a minority political leader, an influential figure who literally runs a parallel government that has undercover links with the criminal world.
The film tells the story from the perspective of an ordinary man who is sucked into the whirlpool of crime because he is not strong enough to fight the influential people who have evil intentions and who exercise their power with an iron fist.
