Mehra's Republic Day connection continues with DELHI 6

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had created history with RANG DE BASANTI. The film won accolades all over and turned out to be one of the biggest ever hits of Aamir Khan's career. Not just it also added credibility to the then-upcoming banner UTV; it also gave Mehra a shot in the arm after an ill-fated debut with AKS. The film's release came at just the right time as well since it coincided with Republic Day due to its 26th January, 2006 arrival.
Now it is pretty apparent that UTV and Mehra are continuing their connection with the Republic Day since their next project DELHI 6, for which the shooting is already through, is all set to arrive on a weekend which leads to 26th January. Currently in post production, the film is all set to release on 23rd January, 2009, hence giving DELHI 6 a four day weekend leading to Monday, 26th January.
Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor in lead with Amitabh Bachchan and Waheeda Rehman in very special appearances, DELHI 6 also stars Anupam Kher, Atul Kulkarni, Divya Dutta and Om Puri in key roles.
