There can be no generalisation .
If a few handful NRI's , as super 79 notes are indeed like that .....there r hundreds who value their tradition even more especially as they r away from their homeland and they try to keep it alive by attending regional clubs [ The Bengali association or the Gujrati Mandal etc] and take active part in all traditional activities . At the same time , there r a few spoilt bratty youngsters in India too who openly disrespect tradition , r prone to vices , and laugh at anything ancient as ' old fashioned and out dated ' . These spoilt youngsters from India and disrespectful NRI's from abroad are on par . It has nothing to do with the west and India ......it depends entirely on the individual .
Someone from the West is not necessarily like Shitij . A Shitij can be found in any gully or nukkad of India too . Young men who r alcoholics , who lie to their parents , who try to get property by fraud r found by the dozen in INdia too . Or China , or any other country in the world . Showing alcoholism as a western trait or ogling at females as a western trait is laughable . These tendencies r universal vices , not western vices . Drinking and ogling at females has been done by a certain number of people in INdia from ancient times .....see the history of kingdoms which were vanquished because of such kings who were addicted to these vices .
THe shoes in temple thing . Shitij is such a character that he has no respect even for his own dad whom he cheats . And what wud u say about Kalika who removes shoes outside the temple where she goes for mental peace [ what a laugh ] and then goes on destroying lives of all innocents around her , right from drugging pregnant women , endangering babies , breaking up marraiges , poisoning innocent labourers .....just bcoz she removed shoes outside a temple , is she any bit better than shitij who doesnt remove shoes ? The first act is Indian and hence respectful and the second is disrespectful ? What nonsense they show , really ! Kalika removes chappals and destroys all god's creations.....innocent human beings and Shitij doesnt and does same .....and yet , the soaps project Kalika as the one who is not as much as a gone case as Shitij .
Why don't the soaps show NRI 's who , infact , as they r away from homeland , value tradition even more , who have no problems sitting cross legged and eating prasad in a village temple when they visit India , who have learnt the Western value of ' respecting the other man's space and tradition ' in addition tho their Indian values , and have also imbibed the professional dedication of the so called West which ultimately made them a developed nation ? What Shitij is has nothing to do with dollars .....he is rotten fundamentally as a human being . What Indian soaps ignorantly do is they blatantly insult the West .....thats what this is .
