Reports and viral on-field footage confirm that the 15-year-old was upset and got into a physical altercation after a highly controversial and tense India A vs. Sri Lanka A tri-series match in Dambulla.

According to various sources, here is what triggered the incident:

• The Provocation: As the disappointed Indian team was heading back to the dugout following a tough Super Over loss, Sri Lankan players began taunting and provoking them.
• The Taunt: Sri Lankan all-rounder Vishen Halambage reportedly taunted Sooryavanshi by saying, "Match over... now you go home."
• The Scuffle: Sooryavanshi, reportedly having dealt with personal remarks throughout the match, lost his temper and returned to the pitch to confront the players, culminating in him physically pushing Halambage before teammates and umpires intervened to calm things down.
