Yes i also don't trust that it's real...the emotions didn't look real.
It is a satirical, meme-driven online protest movement rather than an officially registered political party. Launched on May 16, 2026, the movement went massively viral across Indian social media, accumulating over 6 million Instagram followers in just a matter of days.
The Origin Story
The movement was sparked by a controversial courtroom comment made on May 15, 2026, by India's Supreme Court Chief Justice Surya Kant. During a hearing regarding fake professional degrees, the judge orally remarked that some unemployed youth act "like cockroaches" by getting into social media, journalism, and RTI activism to attack institutions.
Although the Chief Justice later clarified that his comment was aimed specifically at individuals using fake degrees and was not an attack on the country's youth, the remark struck a sensitive nerve among Gen Z and young Indians already facing high unemployment rates and recent exam paper leak scandals.
In response, 30-year-old public relations student and former digital political strategist Abhijeet Dipke flipped the insult into an online movement, embracing the "cockroach" label as a symbol of stubborn resilience against systemic failure. (source = AI)

yes it was because of the CJI Surya Kant's cockroach remark. GenZ has invented Cockroach janta party as a means of protest against his remark even though he has clarified that it was directed towards people who become lawyers or get into the system with fake degrees. not sure if he genuinely meant that or backtracked from his initial statement.
