Netflix has dropped the trailer for Maa Behen and it arrives with a dead body, a dysfunctional family, and Madhuri Dixit doing things no one saw coming. The crime-comedy, produced by Abundantia Entertainment in association with Opening Image Films and directed by Suresh Triveni, is set for release on 4th June exclusively on Netflix. If the trailer is any indication, this one is going to be loud, chaotic, and very difficult to watch alone.
The film centres on Rekha, Jaya, and Sushma, a mother and her two daughters who are already at each other's throats on a regular Tuesday before something considerably worse lands in their living room. What follows is a full spiral of panic, terrible cover-up decisions, nosy neighbours, and the kind of family chaos that somehow becomes funnier the higher the stakes get. Madhuri Dixit plays Rekha, Triptii Dimri plays Jaya, and Dharna Durgaa plays Sushma. Ravi Kishan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Arunoday Singh, and Shardul Bhardwaj round out the cast.
Madhuri Dixit Is Not Playing a Typical Mother
The casting alone makes this worth watching, but Madhuri Dixit was quick to flag that audiences should not walk in expecting familiar territory. "Rekha is not your typical Hindi cinema mother, and that's exactly what made the character so exciting for me. As an actor, it's incredibly rewarding to explore layered, unpredictable roles that challenge the audience's expectations. Rekha may not be a perfect mother, but like any mother, she wants the best for her daughters and tries to hold her family together amidst all the chaos. Maa Behen is an entertainer that will be most enjoyed with the full family, maa behen, bhai, dost," she said.
Triptii Dimri Calls It a Homecoming
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYbLpsEhcfAFor Triptii Dimri, the project carries a personal weight beyond the script. She made her streaming debut on Netflix and returning to the platform with a film like this clearly means something. "Jaya is the ghar ki sushil beti, but she also has a strong sense of right and wrong. She's constantly trying to manage the chaos around her, only to get pulled deeper into it. The dynamic between the two sisters, with all the banter and madness, was one of my favourite parts. Sharing screen space with the legendary Madhuri Dixit, someone who made an entire generation fall in love with cinema, is truly surreal. Some of my most loved work has been with Netflix, and having made my streaming debut with them makes this journey even more special," she said.
Ravi Kishan, Dharna Durgaa and a Cast Built for Chaos
Ravi Kishan, coming off the back of Maamla Legal Hai Season 2, was equally enthusiastic about the collaboration. "She is so graceful, versatile, and elevates every scene. Triptii and Dharna are immensely talented, with young and infectious energy that made the experience even more enjoyable. The film has humour, madness, and a certain warmth that makes it thoroughly entertaining," he said about working alongside Madhuri. For Dharna Durgaa, Maa Behen marks her streaming debut, and she was not shy about how it felt. "The moment I read Maa Behen's script and Sushma's character, I knew she was going to be an absolute blast to play. Working alongside Madhuri Dixit ma'am was honestly dreamlike. My equation with Triptii in the film creates a comedy riot, one that's incredibly entertaining," she shared.
What Suresh Triveni Built
Director Suresh Triveni, whose previous work has always carried emotional texture beneath the surface comedy, described the film's core simply. "Each character brings a completely different energy to the story, making their dynamic messy, unpredictable, and deeply human. The trailer is just a glimpse, the real chaos begins on June 4," he said.
