Timelines is highly messed here. Yes you are right when Gautam returned he was a spoiled brat and very disrespectful. He had even beaten Sahil. Later when family recognise him they bring him home but they were over cautious on him since they thought he needs a huge redemption, so he was always kept a track on. Later Tulsi met Ganga and thought she was a perfect match for Gautam. She fixed the alliance though Gautam loved Teesha. Gautam wanted to deny but then he realised that family had brought a clause that he could inherit only when he marries Ganga. He therefore marries Ganga while continues his EMA with Teesha. Meanwhile Kabir and Kamya (who as we got to know later were friends of Karan and were planted in by him to sabotage) ensured that Ganga sees Gautam and Teesha together. That makes Ganga furious and she leaves the house. Tulsi and other family members scold Gautam and he leaves. Till this time there was a huge issue between Gautam and family (but till this time Karan wasnt introduced)

Later Gautam hits Sahil's younger brother Tarun due to some misunderstanding when he was hospitalized. It was at this time Karan was introduced as Sahil's friend.

He then also meets Ganga and realizes that Sahil and Ganga Love each other but they are yet to realise their feelings. He as their friend becomes detrimental to get them confess. Later he meets Tulsi and convinces her for this alliance. It was during this meeting, he shifted from addressing Tulsi as Aunty to Badi Ma. No one including Tulsi then didn't take it seriously, they thought that he is doing so because he is Sahil's friend and Sahil addresses Tulsi as Badi Ma.

Parallely Teesha's parents ask her to marry her someone else as they had a huge loss in business. Teesha to support her parents agrees. Gautam also wanted to help, so he decided to continue his marriage with Ganga so that he could get his inheritance and help Teesha's parents.

Tulsi gets confused. Karan gets Teesha's number and asks Ganga to speak to her directly and make her convince Gautam to not force continue this loveless marriage. Ganga calls Teesha to India. Teesha scolds Gautam to be selfish who couldn't wait for her and leaves in anger.

Then Gautam breaks. Tulsi and Gautam have a heartfelt conversation and she realises her mistake. She accompanies Gautam to Australia to woo back Teesha(where she saw Madira and Mihir together but that's another topic)

Once back to India Karan had done forgery in company and got 33% shares to his name and self nominated himself as board member, so the entire group including Sahil were against him. Gautam scolds Sahil for bringing Karan and letting him backstab them. Family supports him.

After this point Gautam became the apple of the family's eyes. In absence of Mihir (who was out once his cheating came in public) in office too he became central figure. In house too everyone took him as the central person. He remained so till Karan entered Shanti Niketan at least a year later.

Weren't Gautam and Damini already married, differences already creeping in between Saahil and Gautam, thanks to the plotting by Karan when Karan's truth of him being Mandira's son came out? Like i said, it was Amba and Gautam who brought Karan home.

That was a good revision of Gautam's and Viranis past. Clearly, the guy was a lost child, who frankly, had a wickedly say, lost childhood, miserable youth.

Regardless, we are comparing two people and their behaviour is also attributed to the life they have led.

No Gautam and Damini weren't married when Sahil and Gautam had issues

By the time Gautam married Damini, Karan was already exposed as being Mandira's son.. Sahil didn't even speak to Karan then, forget about Karan being able to create misunderstanding between them.

In fact once Karan was exposed to be Mandira's son, Gautam and Teesha had become the most loved children of family. There was no more Sahil vs Gautam after this... Yes in office Karan definitely tried to create some issues against Gautam but Sahil and the entire family always supported Gautam

Yes when Karan was brought home it was Amba and Gautam but that part was months after the marriage of Gautam Damini and by then Karan and Damini had accepted the reality. Damini had stated loving Gautam. And at this time when Gautam and Amba brought Karan home, Gautam was already the most important son of Virani family (the apple of eye as I said) Post this Karan never did a thing against Gautam. Yes Gautam had issues with Karan because Ansh had misled him to believe that Karan eyes Nandani and is creating differences between them but they never actually fought. Gautam was kind of a sidekick to Ansh in taunting Karan

But if we are comparing that way then Karan had a further worse childhood. Gautam wasn't cared by his parents, Karan had to care for his mother since childhood.

Gautam was in a divorced family, Karan was called an illegitimate making his existence a mistake

Gautam at least had Karishma by her side, Karan literally had no one.. Even when he back, forget his family even Anupam took some time accept him as his nephew

I don’t understand Karan. Why is he insisting in staying in US when he can do the same business in India? It’s not like he lived in the US since childhood or for years that he is now used to living there and can’t live in India anymore. His whole family is in India but he insists on staying in US just for business which he can do in India. He’s willing to break his marriage and make his child sad just for business

To understand his reasons for denying to shift back to India, we must first understand why he shifted abroad with his wife and kids.

I somehow don’t think it’s really about business at all, not when technically, it’s the best time to do business in India atm than it has been since independence tbh. Not a single month goes by these days without the news of some global conglomerate establishing itself in India by starting a manufacturing units or data centres or something else in India. As an Indian citizen he would even have better assistance from the government itself no matter where he goes throughout India. Barring one or two states, most are development friendly and supportive of business houses setting up their offices/manufacturing units/maintenance hubs/data centres etc.

Go through the right channels and know how to use the schemes and incentives provided by the government which can work on two different levels as well - Central and State - and you are going to have added perks to make sure you pick not just India but a particular state and even within that state, there can be special regions which have even more additional benefits for investing since the government would love to develop them but also do so while cutting costs or at least knowing that the costs would be recovered by the region in X amount of years. Google, Apple, Microsoft aren’t crazy for announcing these big budget investments here after all and there are local companies that are also scaling up their own business.
Besides these there’s new infrastructure projects that are announced almost every other month too.

So technically there’s no business on the face of the planet right now that’s not in India or investing in India - either as an established business house or a startup.

Smriti being there means that it’s not impossible to even be unaware of the same. So I don’t think Karan being shown as the most successful and savviest of Mihir’s kids in terms of business acumen is unaware of these developments or incapable of believing in them. He needs to simply take a trip around the country to see the same if he so wants or the areas he’s interested in.

So I don’t think business is holding him back necessarily, it’s something else. We just don’t know or understand what at this point.

For all we know it could be a clash of egos that’s the problem here more than anything else. These two were headstrong always and Nandini in particular is very hotheaded from the get go. A minor argument or comment could have set her off on this tirade. They had KN visit Tulsi when they got to India and so far she’s only talked in front of them how it’s not just the infidelity but Mihir’s behaviour and treatment towards her that hurt her too. She mentions being compared to Noina, getting nitpicked on and accused of just being at home always affecting her ability to understand things and be reasonable about the same. How Noina was more worldly wise in that manner. The camera focused on Nandini and we could see her simmering with rage and almost vibrating with fury, and I don’t think it was purely for Tulsi’s sake that it happened. Something similar has likely happened between these two and since then she wants to go back to India and he doesn’t. Neither wants to broach the subject and have another conversation and open confrontation about it wherein they clear the air and we know if Karan did it once or repeatedly. Was the comment an offhand remark made unthinkingly or a cruel jab made with deliberate intent to hurt her for some reason wherein Karan was furious at her and wanted to get back at her.


They are giving us too little and too vague regarding the other reasons and what’s on the surface makes little to no sense.
