He scored 30 on an average in every game...Fact is, his role as a captain is different from his role as a mere batsman...

I think by giving the ball back to Varun, he showed his support him...It can be seen in both the ways...If I were Varun, I would feel good that my captain is backing me and it would make me want to perform better...Surya stands up for his players.

Fact is, today's pitch had nothing for the bowlers...Despite the limited options he did well in terms of holding off his key bowlers at the right time when he noticed that the other side was trying to play them off and brought them back (both Bumrah and Hardik) in the death overs...that 18th over Bumrah and 19th over Hardik is what has saved the match...of course its not all perfect but that's what T20 is all about isn't it?

If not him who else you think should be our captain? Whoever is the captain will have to compromise on his personal performance...Who are we willing to lose as a performer? and what is the guarantee they will be better than Surya?

Sanju, Axar and Iyer can be one of the finest captain if given proper training and fair chance, and if not them then start looking for young players

P.s we were on the verge of loosing against USA that shows where we and he stands

Dhoni used to set field placements, have a word with the bowler & would tell him to use a certain tack to get the wickets. Even Rohit used to rotate bowlers effectively. It’s not like we have something against Sky personally. He could have contributed more in runs as well but that’s ok because except for Virat, nobody has contributed much in terms of runs anyway.

Also a captain’s job is more than scoring runs. It’s taking an impossible match & turning it into a winning one, not turning a sure shot match into a can-go-either-way game. If Bethell didn’t get out, there’s a good chance that India would have lost.

I do not think after Dhoni, we have got a good captain for us, decent captain yeah but not a good one.

P.s. I never liked Dhoni as a player so it is not about my fav player but about what i personally feel about captainship

Not calling them perfect captains. They were just an example. In cricket, everyone is bashed on their days — that’s nothing new. But it’s a fact that they have been good captains.

That was bad, wasn't it? But hey, bad days can happen to the best of the teams...I remember Australia lost to Netherlands during their GOAT years...

The problem with constantly changing the leadership is it will shake the entire team and destroy its stability....A captain's job is to pick a good team, stand up for his team and elicit good performances from them...The actual work has to be done by the players themselves..isn't it?

IMHO though the biggest need of the hour is bowlers, not captain...To think we couldn't produce another world class bowler like Bumrah despite being the no.1 cricket playing country with a 1.5 billion people breathing it like oxygen...
