Hello ….so I left out Gen 1 on purpose because I believe that it was decent for the most part ..but if anyone feels differently, they can say so ..

ITV in general is a joke ..on the audience that is ..but since this is the forum of a particular show, guess we can stick to this …

Please do share your genuine opinions …thank you !

I have chosen any other because I don’t have enough data points to compare …but personally, after returning from a hiatus, the fall in the standards of this show has been appalling …such pathetic writing from a professional outfit and such insensitive treatment of serious issues is shocking to say the least !

So yeah, this generation is not just a joke …but a cruel one

Am sure anyone who had any emotional connection with any of the other gens may feel the same way !

So funnily this was the first gen I saw from the start and that's why I chose this gen itself, because the writing is abysmal. No track or character has gotten a proper closure, har koi dusre din aise flip maarta hai as if pehle ka kuch bhi nahi hua and somehow there isn't a single character to root for or connect. They just seem to be trying to string together tracks with no consistency or thought except TRPs.

So while this generation seemed to have atleast completed a few milestones like topping the TRP chart after Gen 2 and having more episodes than the previous generation (when people predicted it would get scrapped within 3 months), sometimes it's hard to understand whether it's a good or a bad thing, because the longer they seem to want to stretch the generation, the more the storytelling or the characters are degraded for TRPs

That award for the screenplay was the biggest joke - along with the win for the costumes this gen atleast smiley37

Let’s give it to them, not for logic and definitely not for story, but for something even rarer. The ability to make people watch absolute nonsense for 15+ years and still argue about it like it’s the Mahabharat. smiley37

@ bold this is so true ..milestones seem of no consequence when characters have been butchered simply to run the show for longer or for TRPs smiley7

As someone who has watched the show across all gens, I can say the writing has consistently deteriorated over the gens! But put them in comparison to the other shows on the channel of their time and you'll see why the show has managed to stay a) on air and b) within top 5 consistently despite ALL complaints we may have with the writing!!

I have picked this gen as well because I don't have comparison much since I'm not watching any other star shows for the past 3 odd years!! But clearly the other shows barring Anupamaa aren't sustaining their highs and that's telling too!!

Rishta and the makers might not have the sensitivity to deal with any issues or tracks properly, yet they do know how to sustain.. as we can see clearly!

This gen I've had so many complaints including the most recent track! Yet the gen has somehow managed to sustain..and sustain beyond it's preceding gen with less than half the budget or star power! So hate watch it or troll watch it.. the show and the makers are staying and staying unbothered!!
