This is called desperation.....when one start comparing an actor who debuted almost 40 years back to someone who technically hasn't debuted yet.......I died laughing at the comparison...

I don't understand the collective chant about corporate bookings all the time. I am not denying it might be happening but I think we exaggerate the scale or impact. Who would pump money into this movie -YRF, then why not to Tiger or Shanshera, Mohit Suri? then why not to his last flop, Ahaan Pandey? Sure he might be rich and a nepo but then if money could achieve this, Agastya, Ibrahim, Suhana and Ananya definitely didn't lack that.

I think something about this movie appealed to viewers. I don't know what - music, Mohit Suri's track record of musical hits (about time we start recognising that directors are stars too), good looking, fresh leads who seem to have acted decently or jilted / tragic love story.

We have had Maine Pyaar Kiya, QSQT, Aashiqui 1 and 2, Ek villain which became big hits because of charming newcomers and/or lovely music in a love story.

People are just surprised at the huge opening.....these days even the big stars open that well.......The movies you mentioned became blockbusters because of the WOM and their songs....they didn't open big on the first day itself.....

No one would have said anything if this movie grew by WOM......but this movie has no popular songs, the trailer just launched a few days back....no aggressive promotions....like how is it opening so big??

Coming back to Saiyyara, the hype is real, in Twitter all the songs and the lead coupl's chemistry is having a lot of buzz. The music is popular and no matter what generation it is, youth just love the sadistic pleasure that generates when a super famous rockstar ruins his stardom and sanity as a jilted broken lover over this one innocent pretty girl he fell in love through music, we have see it in Aashiqi 1 and 2, we have seen it in Kaho na Pyar hai, we have seen it in Kaisa ye Pyar hai, so this is nothing shocking.

Also in the trailer both Aneet and Ahaan looked decent and acted decent too.

I hope these nepokids actually succeed over horrible Suhana, khushi, Janhvi 🙃

Hope it opens big and works well for both the debutants..

It is high time B'wood gets some really talented actors.. If the likes of current lots keep on popping up, the industry would head towards a painful death sooner than later...

Agreed but I think that is just the super connected world phenomenon. I mean flops are getting bigger flops and hits are becoming bigger hits - as if people are collectively deciding to watch or skip something.

I was in school when Kaho na pyaar hai phenomenon happened. I don't know box-office numbers but the buzz was amazing much much before the movie released. Something similar is happening maybe? Not comparing hritik to Ahaan / Aneet, just that they might have caught people's fancy. We would need to talk to school kids, college kids and all heart broken lovers to get the appeal.

My only point - if Ahaana and then why not Ananya and all other super rich/influential nepo kids. If Sitaare Zameen Par then why not Lal Singh Chadda. If Pathan then why not Zero. Everytime something catches on, we / some chalk it up to corporate booking. But if that can work and at this scale, then no well comnected rich nepo or a super star would have montrous flops.
