It takes me about a week to complete each update and then I prefer to check word for proofreading, that’s part of my review/ editing process after my update is fully written.

Also, I have been writing for more than 10 years and my readers are there with me for the emotional content and unique characterization. I will never give up on emotion or the feel for automated english.

But, I agree, if anyone does give prompt and get content from AI tools is stupidity. Though, I don’t care because I am mostly focused on what type of content I provide to my readers and that, no one copies my storyline- which had worried me in past, prompting me to have a private writing forum.

Other than copying mine, what others do is least of my worry.

@bold: Me too… it’s takes me about a week to write the entire update and be satisfied enough to post it. I have been writing since 2009 which is over 15 years and most of my old stuff is still there on IF. Most of my old readers aren’t here anymore but some are and they still like to read what I have for them. I’ve also got some wonderful new readers as well.

I do use grammarly for making sure my updates is proofread and the grammar is perfect along with my sentence structure. I don’t see any harm in using tools to make your writing better.

I let my drafts marinate for 2-3 weeks before revising and posting them. Sometimes it stays for months.

I tried using the feedback/constructive criticism for some of my scenes where I could feel it's not what I'm wanting. The feedback was so meh? Like half of it didn't even make sense.

...Show, don't tell: Some lines, such as "You told Arjun about it?" feel like they're telling the reader something rather than showing it through action or dialogue. Try to incorporate more sensory details and action to convey this information...

I'm like that's a simple question, what do you mean show, don't tell at this point ?

I'd rather look up websites (pages on insta) that give writer's resources. They are more helpful.

For grammar, you can surely seek help but I found that half the time it changes the meaning of the sentence or the context isn't understood.

I tried using AI to brainstorm scene suggestions or what next. It helps me know what NOT to do. smiley36

Like something happens, should the characte behind angry, sad or something else. The response made me realise that it will always give a very generic answer. It helps finding a direction but I prefer having my friends and beta-readers do it instead.

When I wrote this scene, it felt a little not perfect. Of all the stupid AI feedback, only one point felt relevant - pacing of the scene.

1000096952.jpg

So two days later I came back and did some rewriting and here's the final version with my friends' inputs.

AI generated content is quite generic and boring tbh. I don't feel the need of using it other than a little grammar inputs here and there.

We humans are born to create beautiful things from our beautiful brains, let's use it.

AI, please do my laundry without messing the whites. 😭😭

I've no idea about the story and the character who asked the question. But I think ChatGPT wanted to say that the character's expressions, behaviour, and body language could be shown along with the question, "You told Arjun about it?" For instance, it could be shown whether that character was feeling shocked or surprised. Did he/she stand up in shock or disbelief while asking the question? Or did he/she move fingers nervously at the time of asking the question? Did he/she avoid eye contact while asking the question? In this way, more information related to the character's reaction to the question could be revealed. This is what I understood.

so true. Have been writing since 2010. Same, I will write and then check para by para for proofread , or even in AI, may place my para and check it gives some athletics but many a times I will ignore their suggestions as they look too robotic.

Also, I feel, we do hard work in writing and have been entertaining our readers since long and our readers love and trust our work. So I won’t worry much here.

Though, I understand Anushka’s worry, we all go through this phase about AI.

I am actually now thinking to make a small post on pros and cons of AI and how will different people have different views about this tool and how people are adjusting to it. It’s out there and one can do nothing about it. It’s about how you use it to optimize your work rather than be completely dependent on it.

Like... since when did everyone suddenly become master storytellers overnight? Perfect grammar, flawless descriptions, deep emotions ... but zero soul.

It’s giving
“I typed a prompt into ChatGPT and copy-pasted the result.”

Funny how the same people who used to struggle with basic structure are now writing like award-winning novelists… overnight.

If your idea of “writing” is letting an AI do 80% of the work and just adding your name at the top… maybe don’t call it “your” story

Just say “co-written by OpenAI” and move on smiley36

Some of us actually spend hours crafting every line... not clicking "regenerate response" until the perfect scene appears.

It was a task forced upon me by the diabolically creative.. chaotically brilliant.. mischief-loving creatives.. Yes the CCs struck again and as the newest bakra.. I had no choice but to obey their wickedly wild orders

Let it be known and etched into your minds that I meant no offense.. meant none of it

I know you all.. I’ve read your amazing work and most of us .. myself included .. have been writing since long before GPT came into existence

So really.. no offense meant to anyone.. Just blame the evil geniuses behind the scenes

Bold@ I don't think you read any of my stories. smiley36 In fact, you don't know me and we never talked to each other before. If anyone reads a story written by me, he/she will easily understand the story isn't written by Chatgpt. That's because there's a noticeable difference between my language and Chatgpt's language. My stories are written in simple and straightforward language. Chatgpt's language is different. One who is familiar with the language used by Chatgpt will identify the difference for sure.

The last GIF is very cute. smiley10 I like babies and kids.

Hello Shirsha

@B, Haha.. yes.. that message was actually meant for all the authors I know and whose work I've read.. of course to initiate the fight.. that was the task given to me! I don’t think I tagged you in the previous message I posted if I remember correctly smiley17 But I made sure to tag you in this one because I read your thoughts in the thread on this topic.

Also, you're mistaken there... I do know you!

We had a brief interaction a while back. Remember when I was hosting that 2000-words OS competition a few months ago? You had mentioned you were planning to participate and even asked me to remind you. But I never ended up receiving your entry

I don't remember about this contest at all! Is it the one based on a character from Munjya, a character from Shararat and a character from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and a few other fictional characters? I thought Hinna was the organiser of that contest. So, I sent her a story. Or is it a different contest?
