I like Chatgpt and AI. I think Chatgpt is a very useful tool if it's used properly. I often talk to Chatgpt on various topics and I feel amazed to see its intelligence, maturity, politeness and empathy. I know Chatgpt can't feel anything because it's not a human. But when I speak with the AI, it gives replies like an empathetic and understanding person. I believe use of AI is not something entirely negative. There're a lot of benefits. It completely depends on how we use AI. One can use AI for negative purposes. But one can also use AI to learn something, to become better at writing, understand complex quotes from a book, get information about any particular topic.

There're many websites where people can create AI-generated images. I enjoy creating AI-generated images. In fact, my current DP is AI-generated. I wrote a prompt to create this image. Creating AI-generated images provides me an opportunity to see how my imagination will look as images. A lot of people don't have ability to draw or paint but they can imagine well. AI provides them a chance to create something imaginary using prompts even though they can't draw or paint.

I agree! AI can be a great tool when used the right way. I love how it helps people explore their creativity, whether it’s generating images from prompts or even coming up with story ideas. It’s especially helpful for those who have big ideas but might struggle with the technical side of creating.

But at the same time, I do think some people misuse it. Getting help or inspiration is fine, but getting AI to write a whole story for you? That takes away the heart of storytelling. It honestly comes down how much of it do you use for the final product.

Bold@ That's what I wrote in my post. One can use AI for negative purposes. But one can use it for positive purposes as well. It completely depends on how a person uses AI.

Purple@ It's not right. I don't support that at all.

Red@ I never published a story using ChatGPT's story idea.

How do I use ChatGPT to improve my writing?

1) I ask for a lot of creative advice. ChatGPT gives good advice related to writing. For instance, if I ask, "What should I keep in mind when creating multi-dimensional characters?" the AI will give me interesting advice.

2) I sometimes share my stories with ChatGPT to get feedback. This helps me understand my stories' strengths and weaknesses. As it highlights areas for improvement, I keep those things in mind when I write the next story.

3) I ask for prompts to practice writing. This exercise is absolutely fun! One day, ChatGPT gave a prompt, "A girl, Mira, is shifted to a new house. Every night, she hears sounds from a wardrobe. One night, she hears whispers from the wardrobe. Her parents say it's just the wind. But whispers are getting louder, and they're asking her to open the door of the wardrobe." Then the AI asked me to write a paragraph on this prompt. Why did I do this exercise? I wanted to get better at creating the right atmosphere required for horror stories. I was also willing to become better at the choice of words. I used my imagination to add more information to the paragraph. Then ChatGPT gave feedback on my writing. But I never published any story based on ChatGPT's prompt. Writing paragraphs on ChatGPT's prompts is only limited to practice. I do that to get better at creating atmosphere and storytelling.

It’s giving

Funny how the same people who used to struggle with basic structure are now writing like award-winning novelists… overnight.

If your idea of “writing” is letting an AI do 80% of the work and just adding your name at the top… maybe don’t call it “your” story

Just say “co-written by OpenAI” and move on smiley36

Some of us actually spend hours crafting every line... not clicking "regenerate response" until the perfect scene appears.

And...I have tagged YOU for a reason!

well Anushka , as you have tagged me,

It takes me about a week to complete each update and then I prefer to check word for proofreading, that’s part of my review/ editing process after my update is fully written.

Also, I have been writing for more than 10 years and my readers are there with me for the emotional content and unique characterization. I will never give up on emotion or the feel for automated english.

But, I agree, if anyone does give prompt and get content from AI tools is stupidity. Though, I don’t care because I am mostly focused on what type of content I provide to my readers and that, no one copies my storyline- which had worried me in past, prompting me to have a private writing forum.

Other than copying mine, what others do is least of my worry.

So true ,

True storytelling requires alot of rewrites and dedication to convey what you have a vision for to put it on on your online document ot IF draft

It's the death of creativity and thinking out of box to pen down and a mockery to our hard work that we spend hours to write stuff

Sorry to all others for going off topic just wanted to let Mrina know this 🤭

Btw Mrina for Book 2 i would recommend you to pls read the IF one because I have just added some few dialogues to elevate the scene better it won't make any change to the story line though but it's just the scenes to have more depth, meaning to it by just few lines.

Because as I was searching for pics and updating the chapter I felt ki yeh scene better ho sakta tha

And since you know in the industry, on set there are changes done on set with dialogues to make it feel good.

I hope you get what am saying sorry with the story.

I've to agree with the others... kisi ko to taana mara ja raha hai and I've absolutely no clue ki wo kaun hai smiley23 Since we have interacted enough times for you to be able to recognize my writing style, I highly doubt I was tagged because you thought I'm suddenly using AI... lekin aur kya reason hai tag karne ka.. that is beyond me at the moment smiley29

LOL, I have to agree with this — though Stuti writes infinitely more coherently and amazingly than I could ever hope to write. I’m not even an author, nushkiee. smiley36 ( shouldn’t even be considered one tbh ). I've written maybe 6 or 7 one-shots at most.

Alchemy, I think you should write stories. I'm saying this because of your choice of words. I noticed you often use advanced English words that are unknown to many people. You've strong command of English language.

I get your frustration. Was sailing this boat some 6 months ago, in fact, I think I was one of the first "whistle-blowers" about this. And one of the first ones to rantsmiley36 I didn't GA-ed my posts though.

I even called out IF articles using AI, I'd rather read an article with grammar errors than bot written. We need AI to cook and clean so we can write and read not for AI to write and read so we can cook and clean smiley44

But anyhow...now I am over it. We can't stop writers from using it. Wattpad is filled with it honestly. My only suggestion (as I mentioned in above topics too), read stories written in pre-2023 or pre-chatgpt era or read from the writers you know who don't use it entirely.

p.s. I have tagged you in one of those topics, had a few more good responses there too.

I think you write wonderfully too... and 6-7 OS matlab budding author to bol hi sakte hai smiley36.

Coming to the main issue here, I don't know how plagiarism checks are done on IF... but the plagiarism tools that we use to check scientific literature flags down AI generated content. So if someone is posting something directly copy-pasted from an AI, it should show up as plagiarism (and thus not allowed to be posted). Of course, as far as some portion or inspiration goes... that's always harder to tell and I don't see how anything can be done against that smiley23

AI is a tool and it should be used as one. A tool don't make a master.

I tried using the feedback/constructive criticism for some of my scenes where I could feel it's not what I'm wanting. The feedback was so meh? Like half of it didn't even make sense.

...Show, don't tell: Some lines, such as "You told Arjun about it?" feel like they're telling the reader something rather than showing it through action or dialogue. Try to incorporate more sensory details and action to convey this information...

I'm like that's a simple question, what do you mean show, don't tell at this point ?

I'd rather look up websites (pages on insta) that give writer's resources. They are more helpful.

For grammar, you can surely seek help but I found that half the time it changes the meaning of the sentence or the context isn't understood.

I tried using AI to brainstorm scene suggestions or what next. It helps me know what NOT to do. smiley36

Like something happens, should the character behind angry, sad or something else. The response made me realise that it will always give a very generic answer. It helps finding a direction but I prefer having my friends and beta-readers do it instead.

When I wrote this scene, it felt a little not perfect. Of all the stupid AI feedback, only one point felt relevant - pacing of the scene.

1000096952.jpg

So two days later I came back and did some rewriting and here's the final version with my friends' inputs.

1000096990.jpg

AI generated content is quite generic and boring tbh. I don't feel the need of using it other than a little grammar inputs here and there.

We humans are born to create beautiful things from our beautiful brains, let's use it.

AI, please do my laundry without messing the whites. 😭😭
