Actually, I don't read romantic books at all. I don't feel interested in reading romantic books. But the Japanese books I want to read are heart-warming and interesting. So, you may like them. I'm sharing a list with you. If you want to buddy-read any of the books with me from this list, let me know.

1) The Morisaki Bookshop Duology

a) The Days at Morisaki Bookshop

b) More Days at Morisaki Bookshop

These books are about a girl who seeks solace in a bookshop. This book highlights the transformative power of books. Maybe there's a touch of romance in these books, but I'm not completely sure about that.

I've the physical copies of these two books, and I like books about books and bookshops. Morisaki Books are well-known and are read by many people.

2) Cafe series

a) Before the Coffee Gets Cold

b) Tales from the Cafe

c) Before Your Memory Fades

d) Before We Say Goodbye

e) Before We Forget Kindness

What would people do if they could go back in time and change certain life events? This is the theme of the book series. The stories of these books revolve around love, loss, family, regret, the importance of finding closure, and so on.

The first book, Before the Coffee Gets Cold, is very popular. I listened to the first story of this book many days ago and I must say the first story is beautiful.

3) The Convenience Store Woman

This popular book is about a woman who works in a convenience store. She is a misfit who doesn't meet the expectations of other people, and the story shows how she finds purpose in her life.

4) The Travelling Cat Chronicles

This book is about the travels of a man and his cat, and it is told from the perspective of the cat.

5) The Goodbye Cat

The Goodbye Cat is a short story collection, and all of the stories depict the bond between human beings and cats.

Thanks for the tag Lizzie!

I’m not someone who maintains a TBR as such — I basically read recommendations / from book reviews / bookstagram or I usually check Goodreads if I don’t have anything.

My TBR is quite long smiley37

I am willing to buddy read anyone who likes crime, mysteries, romance ( straight, gay, lesbian, paranormal, romantic suspense ) political thrillers, everything that is a good read except non fiction ( auto biographies/ books base on finance - pls keep me away from them )

I’ll update the books I’m planning to read in some time.

Portrait of a Lady by Khushwant Singh by any chance ? smiley42 If so I’m totally willing to buddy read ( it’s a fantastic, very heart touching story)

No, no, it's classic literature. It was written by Henry James. He was an author of the Victorian period and the Edwardian period. I know his name because I studied English literature in the past.

Correct me if I am wrong though.

Edit: I just checked. There is a short story by Khushwant Singh by the same name, part of some anthology. The one I am planning to read is the novel by Henry James

I think the book, The Portrait of a Lady, you mentioned in your list, is the one written by Henry James. Am I right?

Oh I saw this in google too but I don’t know about this book. I am a fan of a few English literature books but it’s been quite a while for me.

Yeah you are absolutely right. The only Portrait of a Lady is the one by Khushwant Singh. I’m not aware of the one by Henry James smiley18

I loved the story though.

Lizzie, I would like to buddy-read Robinson Crusoe, A House for Mr. Biswas, and No Longer At Ease with LizzynDarcy. But I read A House for Mr. Biswas, and No Longer At Ease when I did M.A in English literature. The first book was written by a Caribbean author, and the second book was written by a Nigerian author. These novels were included in my syllabus. Is re-reading allowed in this reading challenge? If yes, then I can read all three novels with LizzynDarcy. If not, then I will only buddy-read Robinson Crusoe with her.
