Salman Khan, Alvira Khan Summoned in Multi-Crore Being Human Jewellery Dispute; Court Seeks Reply

A Chandigarh district court has summoned actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited in connection with an alleged cheating case linked to a Being Human jewellery showroom. The court has directed all the accused to appear on October 5 and submit their responses to the complaint.

The matter stems from a complaint filed by Chandigarh-based businessman Arun Gupta, who has alleged that he suffered heavy financial losses after investing in a Being Human jewellery franchise. While the allegations are now before the court, the company has denied the claims and maintained that Salman Khan had no direct role in the business agreement.

Businessman alleges losses after investing in showroom

According to the complaint, Gupta decided to open a Being Human jewellery showroom in Manimajra after being assured of business support. He claimed he entered into an agreement with Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited, which had the licence to market Being Human jewellery.

Gupta alleged that he invested nearly Rs 3 crore into the venture, including around Rs 1 crore spent on establishing the showroom. He stated that he fulfilled all the conditions mentioned in the agreement, expecting the promised support to help the business grow.

However, he claimed that once the outlet became operational, the company did not extend the assistance that had been assured. As a result, he alleged that the business struggled to function as expected.

Supply issues and fresh allegations

The complainant further alleged that the store responsible for supplying Being Human jewellery had remained shut since February 2020. According to him, this disrupted the supply of jewellery, affecting sales and leading to losses running into several crores.

Apart from Salman Khan and Alvira Khan Agnihotri, the complaint also names six individuals associated with the company. Gupta has alleged that they misrepresented the business opportunity and encouraged him to make the investment based on assurances that were not fulfilled.

Company's stand and what happens next

Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited has previously rejected the allegations. The company has stated that Salman Khan was not a party to the franchise agreement signed in 2018 and had no direct involvement in the day-to-day operations of the jewellery business.

According to the company's clarification, the Salman Khan Foundation had only licensed the Being Human brand to Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited in 2015. It further maintained that all operational responsibilities, including marketing, sales and business management, were handled independently by the company.

The case will now proceed before the Chandigarh district court, with October 5 fixed as the next date of hearing. The accused have been asked to appear before the court and file their responses. As of now, the allegations remain under judicial consideration, and the court is yet to examine the merits of the claims.
