Thanda response to Sarkar Raj Despite all the hullabaloo created by the Bachchan family, the bookings for Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar Raj are quite lukewarm. We spoke to some theatre officials across Mumbai and this is what they had to say.

Says an official, "At Globus (Bandra) tickets are pretty much available for the first day first show but not for the 8:15 pm show on the same day which is sold out. But over the weekend the tickets are still available."

It is a similar case at Cineplanet (Sion) and Cinemagic (Andheri, (E)), where tickets are still available for the first day first show and for the other shows over the weekend too.

The situation is slightly better at Fun Republic (Andheri). "While the tickets for all the shows are available on the first day, for the afternoon and evening shows on Saturday, the advance bookings are sold out. The advance booking for Sunday is still on though," adds the theatre official

At Gaiety (Bandra), for a change, the tickets for the first day first show are completely sold out, but not over the weekend.

The box-office bookings of Sarkar Raj surely signify that people are still to get over the IPL fever. Even the star cast of the entire Bachchan family is not sufficient to attract audiences to the theatres. Whether the bookings will improve after the release of the movie we have to wait and watch.

Box Office: Sarkar Raj registers a record booking

Sarkar Raj has registered a record booking. The Ram Gopal Varma film has just broken New Excelsior cinema's 8 year advance booking record in Mumbai.

New Excelsior is a single screen theater with seating capacity of over 1100.

At the multiplexes the advance is more trailing, but the mere heavy volume of screenings (some multiplexes are running upto a record 20 shows of Sarkar Raj a day) will lead to impressive takings from there also.

Elsewhere nationally, the Amitabh Bachchan - Abhishek Bachchan - Aishwarya Rai starrer is launching massive volumes. In Chennai's Satyam theater, Sarkar Raj will be launched on 30+ screenings and the advance report indicates it is poised to take a big opening in Madras as Inox Chennai too is just about sold out for the weekend. In Lucknow, Kanpur and Indore the advance bookings are strong as well.

The Balaji distributed film is releasing on 1400 prints. It has 600 UFOs in circulation.

I read the reviews and it seems the movie is great.

I loved the intensity of Sarkar and I am really looking forward to Sarkar Raaj.

I like RGV movies thought he has churned out relly bad ones too but I like his idea of facial closeups...Simply great...and you need great actors to carry that.

i think this movie will be a good one cuz i think sarkar was a great movie and im sure this one will do well..
