One thing I noticed is that people, especially reviewers want characters to always act logically when in reality people don’t. Is the right and most logical thing for Sadaf to do is to leave Ammar? Yes Sadaf should have left. Yes she’s educated and isn’t financially dependent on Ammar like some other women are. I think it’s one thing to be frustrated with her character…even Bilal Abdullah is 😂 But it doesn’t mean that it makes no sense and this is an impossible scenario. People don’t always make logical decisions especially when they’re in vulnerable situations. It happens all the time. It doesn’t mean the writing in itself is regressive. If by the end of this Sadaf says, I am going to stand by my husband no matter what because he is my husband and they show that as the right thing, then it is regressive. Fitoor did that and I found that very regressive.
Ammar here isn’t being glorified in any way. Even though he pities himself, no one else feels that for him because he hasn’t been portrayed in a way to gain sympathy. I’ve even seen people question the writing when Ammar is upset that Sadaf ate dinner at 11pm while he’s with Dania. I was fuming over Ammar as I’m sure most people were. Of course it doesn’t make sense but it does to Ammar. He self-victimizes and gaslights Sadaf. My friend’s husband left her for another woman and blamed her for it. Scummy guys like this exist.
I also feel like some of these reviewers have some valid criticism for the show but become nitpicky about weird things. Like I watched a bit of that KDH show and they questioned why Zaviyaar’s said that jaagayi line about Sadaf. He was saying she finally woke up but they were like, how does he know anything, only Farzana knows about the affair. I mean he can see his sister isn’t happy, her husband doesn’t come home until late at night when she’s waiting for him. He can to the very least see that she is being disrespected and is unhappy. Isn’t that enough?
