There is a difference between a good project which doesn't get numbers and a really bad project which gets roasted and negative audience feedback (plus also not get good numbers). Numm was a hatke project - it was a pretty good drama actually, just not a hit. Askk, I remember got audience backlash cos Fawad's cktr would go drinking in a pub. Ashk wasn't that great but it was just average bad. If Mein and SMD were just average bad like Namak Haram or Ashkk or they were good projects that didn't get numbers (like Mann Jogi or Numm), that would've been still ok.
Besides, Fawad also gave Akbari Asghari, ZGH and Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan in same timeframe so that was able to overcome Ashk & Numm bad numbers..
The extreme negativity is being amplified by social media and these drama reviewing shows. Different times and of course celebrities have to adapt.
I will say that no matter how much we deny it, these negative reviews, week after week does affect perception. Now if this show was amazing and loved by the masses, then of course it could overcome it. It has issues and we have all pointed them out. I don’t find every single thing in it problematic like some of these reviewers do. I don’t think the general YouTube watching audience was finding it so problematic….even they’re complaining about the slow pace now 🤣 They really tested our patience with this after wedding, never ending track. The hate from industry insiders especially seems a bit extreme to me.
Everyone is worried about Wahaj’s recent projects and want him to take a break. He has. He took his time filming SMD and it underperformed as per expectations. Now we don’t even know what, if anything he has signed. He could disappear for years and come back with a dud. Personally I think it’s better to keep going.
