This is shocking news. There can be many reasons not just cheating as for why relationships break resulting into divorce.

I guess their was love cum arranged marriage. She is a north Indian, Gujrati. I remember coming across A.R.Rahman's old interview where he mentioned how initially it was difficult for her to settle due to differences with the culture, family etc and how they have grown stronger in their married life.

Well, if a separation/divorce gets announced via (social) media beforehand, it definitely is for drawing attention to that and initiate speculation...the line about "respecting privacy" gives me a grin as the one going public even doesn't do it...

There's no better way to guard your privacy than tweeting with aa tabloid style hashtag so that the news about your divorce shaking God's throne up in the heavens would reach another five million people by sun down .
