they made sure they got elected. That's not a small deal in a parliamentary system where people vote on the basis of party, not personal member preferences

by getting elected, they contributed to the agenda of the one honest party that gave us development

the alternative would have been to put up someone unelectable, which would have led to votes for the umpteen pappu parties that looted the country since independence and gave us nothing but appeasement politics and poverty
