I don't know how it went that way, but I suspect the SRK movie played some role in every media and show making Karuwaki for Ashoka's beloved wife, when early there were many more, even a concubine!

SRK's movie played a major role , then some novels also glorify Karuwaki and then that Chakravartin also made Karu some mahan love of his. Also, Karu being an enemy princess adds dramatic value. But, Karuwaki didn't belong to Kalinga. Her origins are not known. Why was she donating in Kaushambi when Kalinga was her residence? Scholars strongly speculate she hailed from Kaushambi.

Well it's tolerable for audiences I guess as no one is taking any action but this would create a huge controversy. In every show Helena is shown as a mommy figure to Bindusara who had taken care of him since childhood after Durdhara died. He always calls her Maa. It's all inaccurate though. He might have called her Maa out of respect of her relationship with his father but come on. She was such a childish person, Bindusara though of in same age group was a mature person.😂🤣
